A NEW SOLO NOVEL IN DAVID WEBER'S NYT BEST-SELLING HONORVERSE

“It is our duty to pay for our liberty with our own blood. The freedom that we shall win through our sacrifice and exertions, we shall be able to preserve with our own strength.” —Subhas Chandra Bose

Lieutenant Brandy Bolgeo has come home from the Battle of Hancock station wounded in both body and spirit.

She will need months to regenerate her lost leg, but how long will it take to heal her heart?

She’s come home to find that her wounds, her ship’s brutal damage, the deaths of so many friends, were the fault of an arrogant, aristocratic coward who broke and ran in the face of the enemy. Who left her ship to pay the price for his craven desertion under fire. And whose powerful political allies are determined to protect and preserve him at any price.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I actually enjoyed it more than field of Dishonor. You got to revisit that book from different points of view and you got to see how it was distressing for those that were peripheral to the central story. Thank you Mr. Weber for another enjoyable story.

A great revisit!

Expands and celebrates characters we enjoy and care about. An excellent addition to the Honorverse.

Great Story

Reminds me of last year's newspaper comment section. Half of the stuff you remember so you don't need additional info and/or new points of view, half you just don't care about after so long.

If it were a TV series, these two episodes would be called fillers.

I was pretty worried when it started and it seemed like it was a lift from Field of Dishonor. but then he wrapped up sitting the time and place and we moved on. Every time Harkness came into the picture I started laughing and may have almost swerved off the road once. I look forward to learning more about the other characters during these critical times.

Was worried at the start and Happy and sad at the end

confusing start made the main story line hard to follow until half way through the book

main story line was confusing

I do wish I had realized before I was in the middle that this was not ONLY a story alongside events from other books, but that actually we'd get a lot of content directly about and from the point of view of important loved characters who dangit died in the main series a very long time ago. Ow. (no, it's good, but I was surprised how many feelings I apparently still have about them ~20 years on.)

I was not expecting to re-mourn characters!

Yes, we knew the bones of the story. So happy to hear it from others point of view. Enriches the experience.

Love the Perspective

When I first purchased this audio book, I thought it was the continuation after the war because I completely expected there to be pockets of resistance. It wrapped up too nicely. I was pleasantly surprised as this was like seeing different scenes of a movie from across the room from the first time. As much as I appreciate these perspectives, I would hope to see the aftermath of Uncompromising Honor.

Deja Vu

Got more info on some back stories. Great addition to Honor's story line. It was very well written.
