About this listen

Never let them get you to the second location. Even if that location happens to be a lakeside mansion home to four hot-as-sin men.

After years of living in survival mode, I'm finally hitting rewind on the story of my life. There's nothing standing in the way of my bright future at Lake Chapel University.

Or so I thought.

Being ambushed by four devastatingly attractive football players wasn't on my bingo card. Ironically, they seem just as stupefied by me as I am of them.

There's Decker: the brooding, scowling leader. Then Kylian: the iPad-wielding nerd. Next is Kendrick: the gruff, gorgeous jock. And finally, Locke: the huge, tattooed emo boy.

It's the last one that catches my eye.

As the recipient of the Crusade Scholarship, I'm here on a full ride, and I intend to make the most of my education. But a girl's allowed to have a little fun, right?

That's how I find myself hooking up with the right guard of the Lake Chapel Crusaders at the first party of the school year. My plan for a casual fling is derailed a few days later when I unexpectedly run into a couple of the guys outside of school.

Now Decker Crusade thinks I saw something I shouldn't have, and he's decided the only way to control the narrative is to control me. There's nowhere to run, considering Decker and his boys live in a lakeside mansion that can only be accessed by boat.

Apparently, I live here now, too.

They think they can keep me captive indefinitely, but there's something about me they've sorely underestimated: my will to finally live.

Too Safe is the first book in the Boys of Lake Chapel series. It is a full-length why-choose sports romance featuring darker themes and high heat.

I love to see a story!!

I love it when I actually get to know who the characters are before all the smut and drama it’s helps to get emotionally attached when something does happen. This cliffhanger got my having to choosing whether to be on time to work or to be late to work to start the second book. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Great story set up!

This was my first Abby Millsaps book and I definitely was not disappointed!! I love me a good slow burn, forced proximity RH setting and Abby has set Joey up for quite a delicious story! This book was a great set up for the characters and personalities of Joey and the guys. I can tell there’s a lot we’re going to learn about the guys and their secrets as the story progresses but I’m totally along for the ride as it happens. Abby did an amazing job with the mental health representation of Joey in this story and writing about her conversion disorder. I’m curious to know more about her background and what brought her to live with her uncle eventually. We also had Neurodivergent representation and chronic illness rep (Rheumatoid arthritis) in a couple of the guys which I found so unique. We have quite the cliffhanger at the end so I’ll be diving into the next book asap. I actually did the audio in this one — June deBorahae, Vincent Skye, and Ace Bentley did an amazing job with the narration!

Why Choose Sports Romance!

Obsessed with this audiobook. It was so good. It’s not full cast, but each of the 4 guys was distinguishable, so it felt like it was. Definitely going to listen to book 2 and 3.

Great Dual performances for this why choose romance

After reading So Wrong & So Real, I needed to catch up on all the background for the characters in this world - and I am now hooked. I knew I would love Joey's story after glimpsing her in Hunter's series but the intrigue and circumstances that put her in the path of her four men were surprising. The tension and chemistry is insane. And the mystery of Joey & her background is one that kept me on the edge, grasping for more easter eggs that we slowly get.

Kylian is my favorite MMC in this book - the care in which his character is depicted and his neurodivergent tendencies is something that is beautiful. He's a bit of a contrast - caring, sweet but then a dominant alpha in the sheets. He's a man after my own heart.

All four men are so different but captured my attention. And this is a trilogy that needs to be read in order because this first book ends on a cliffhanger. I am officially hooked and cannot wait to see how this story unfolds.

Listening to this audio was great - it's a dual narration and the narrators (June Deborahae, Vincent Skye, Ace Bentley) do a great job at embodying these characters & this story that had me finishing this one within a day.

Male actor has a lisp.

Great story. I’ve already downloaded the next one. The only thing that bothered me a bit was one of the male actors had a lisp with the letter /s/.
