About this listen

Attempted murder victim told the Brainerd Dispatch she believes her sixteen-year-old son saved her.

This is the news article detailing the event that would drastically change Tyler Zed's life and that of his family forever.

Growing up in a small town in Minnesota, Tyler and his two brothers filled their days with chaotic fun, from playing hockey to building forts to making their own home movies. The household was also full of addiction and abuse that ultimately led to their father attempting to murder their mother on Christmas Eve 2007.

Trailer Park Parable follows Tyler and his family before Christmas Eve 2007, the events leading to that night, and the years afterward. It trails the boys as they deal with varying degrees of PTSD and their own battles with addiction, before they eventually turned their creative coping mechanisms, like their YouTube channels, into million-subscriber successes.

From living in a trailer park to running a multi-million-dollar business, Trailer Park Parable highlights a true, American-dream story, countering a popular narrative that tells us you may as well not even try, the system is rigged against you.

It’s very hard to be honest with your friends, your family, and yourself. It was good to hear an honest story of what life can throw at you and your family.

Tyler did not make him self or anyone out to be a hero or even a villain, but he was direct with the facts of life that many people refuse to see and admit.

Addictions suck, and when you are addicted, you can’t see how it impacts others, you just keep medicating yourself.

I think he addressed his situation that way rather than just pointing his finger at somebody and calling them evil. Very mature attitude and he has processed the situation amazingly.

Honestly is hard

Tyler is one of my favorite youtubers, now a favorite author as well! As he tells the story of his childhood, it almost feels like you grew up next door to him or they were the family everyone knew but didn't know.
Great job Tyler!!

Amazing story of survival and success!

I loved hw open Tyler was with his past trauma and uphill grinds of a family of limited means yet he never let this stop him from overcoming. Great book! ❤️

Couldn't stop; listened through from beginning to end.

I really enjoyed following Tyler Zed along his journey. A few too many inappropriate words for me, although I understand why most of them were needed. A great set of parables for life and personal redemption.

Excellent book! I did the audio version since I watch your YouTube channel. I’m so very sorry about what you and your family have been through. You and your brothers are strong and smart. You should all be so proud of what you have accomplished. Best of luck and see you on the Tube. Hugs!

Thank you for sharing such a hard moment in your life in the hopes that it can help others going through their own challenges. My only dislike was all the jumping around in the time line of events, I prefer a linear approach but to each their own, not a deal breaker for me.

Being a fan of the YouTube channels, I never expected your past to have been what it was. if you don't want to be a product of your environment, change your environment. Well done!

I found this book to be deep and found Tyler’s narrative to be heartwarming. I know what it’s like to go through a tough childhood. The strength which, Tyler, Devon, and all of the main characters exhibited, was inspirational. I really appreciate hearing this kind of thing in a world that feels topsy-turvy. The reference to finding one’s anchor is a terrific illustration of finding a way to get a grip on life.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to see how they can turn their difficult situations into positive ones. Tyler refused to allow the pain he had suffered to color his entire existence. He was able to see the good things that his father said and taught, even though there was so much pain and hardship because of the man.

Highly recommend!
