About this listen

Spring has sprung in Eastport, Maine, and in Jacobia Jake Tiptree's 1823 Federal style fixer-upper, that means a housecleaning so thorough even the skeletons in the closet get polished! But nothing can prepare Jake for what she'll uncover: a trio of mysteries certain to make her usual home repair projects seem as simple as scraping paint. What do an old book hidden in Jake's cellar, the appearance of her ex-husband's ghost, and the murder of her housekeeper's son have in common? Only Jake can jigsaw the clues into place - and she'd better do it fast, before a killer snares her in a trap she can't escape.

This was not my favorite installment in this great series (and in looking at other reviews, I’m not the only one who feels that way). I thought Jake and Ellie did some uncharacteristically dumb things. Between that and the seemingly unrelated book-related side story, I spent a good chunk of this listen vaguely irritated. HOWEVER, the resolution was more than satisfying and I’m thinking the book distraction may be resolved in the next book. So, bottom line, if you’re enjoying this series, stick with this book.

Dark but good

This was on the dark side of cozy. It still had the cozy feel that Sarah Graves created in Eastport Maine. But, the plot was dark with lots of twist and turns. I loved it. I can't wait for the next book.

Another great book in the series

Each book in the series gets better and better. The author is so good at describing Eastport, I feel like I lived there for decades too.

Good Read

I have liked all the books in this series. The plots are generally good and the stories move along nicely. I do wish that the Jake would get a little smarter as the books move along because she makes the same bonehead moves in nearly every book. Better character development through the series would be nice.

Story moving along

Overall this was a nice addition to the series. This almost seems like a pivot in the series as some character changes are there. I will continue to

ANOTHER GREAT STORY!!!

EXCELLENT Like All of SARAH GRAVES Stories!!! Love Tiptrees tips! Her stories are like no others!! With
LINDSAY ELLISON narrating there are none to compare for constant enjoyment !! The characters are all real people
with very real intertwined love in a small village in a beautiful setting by a large lake. Lots of seafood, best friends, dogs and an unusual cat!! You will love most of the interesting people. Not care for others. The love between a mother and her son is poignant yet hopeful! The narrator is The BEST AMERICAN narrator I have ever heard!!! I am 73 years old and have listened to thousands of books. There are a few good American narrators but so far Ms. Ellison is The Top to me!!!
