About this listen

“Liberals’ loyalty to the United States is off-limits as a subject of political debate. Why is the relative patriotism of the two parties the only issue that is out of bounds for rational discussion?”

In a stunning 2003 follow-up to her number-one best seller Slander, leading conservative pundit Ann Coulter contends that liberals have been wrong on every foreign policy issue, from the fight against communism at home and abroad, the Nixon and the Clinton presidencies, and the struggle with the Soviet empire right up to today’s war on terrorism.

“Liberals have a preternatural gift for always striking a position on the side of treason”, says Coulter. “Everyone says liberals love America, too. No, they don’t.”

From Truman to Kennedy to Carter to Clinton, America has contained, appeased, and retreated, often sacrificing America’s best interests and security. With the fate of the world in the balance, liberals should leave the defense of the nation to conservatives.

Reexamining the 60-year history of the Cold War and beyond - including the career of Senator Joseph McCarthy, the Whittaker Chambers-Alger Hiss affair, Ronald Reagan’s challenge to Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall”, the Gulf War, and our present war on terrorism - Coulter reveals how liberals have been horribly wrong in all their political analyses and policy prescriptions.

McCarthy, exonerated by the Venona Papers if not before, was basically right about Soviet agents working for the US government. Hiss turned out to be a high-ranking Soviet spy (who consulted Roosevelt at Yalta). Reagan, ridiculed throughout his presidency, ended up winning the Cold War. And George W. Bush, also an object of ridicule, has performed exceptionally in responding to America’s newest threats at home and abroad.

Coulter, who in Slander exposed a liberal bias in today’s media, also examines how history, especially in the latter half of the 20th century, has been written by liberals and therefore distorted by their perspective. Far from being irrelevant today, her clearheaded and piercing view of what we’ve been through informs us perfectly for challenges today and in the future.

With Slander, Ann Coulter became the most recognized and talked-about conservative intellectual of the year. Treason, in many ways an even more controversial and prescient work, will ignite impassioned political debate at one of the most crucial moments in our history.

a real eye-opener

Coulter goes beyond the liberal mis-interpretation of history. This examination of the basis for liberalism and their infatuation with atheists, Communists, feminists, and the destruction of America and its principles is extremely well documented. I listened to it twice.

Great twist on media spin

Ann does it again. Giving the little known facts about headlines and headline makers that tend to rock the foundations of what the press tells us. I've just been turned on to Ann Coulter but, thanks to Audible, I've heard five of her books already and can't wait for more.

Love it or hate it...

It's obvious who will hate this book without any consideration for the content... Ann once more takes a flamethrower to the revisionist history written by the liberal media and pundits, destroying it utterly in the process. Anyone who has any interest in discovering the truth about the Cold War, Joe McCarthy, Reagan's masterful strategy in defeating the Soviet Empire, and the utter failure of Democrat foreign policy will find this fascinating, since all the points made during the discourse are based in FACT, and backed by more FACTS (something lacking in the commonly-accepted "historical" missives penned by the liberal elite). I might disagree with her final conclusions, but all in all, this opened up my eyes. Until this point, I "knew" that Joe McCarthy was evil, I just didn't know why... thanks for the history lesson, Ann!

Another point of view.

Coulter is very good at giving a conservative, if not American, view of the history of the Democratic Party. You will never hear this point of view in the media or on college campuses.

well researched and refreshing point of view

Made me rethink my unfounded prejudices of Joe McCarhy. I knew he was supposedly an evil guy but I could not explain why. Coulter vindicates McCarthy especially considering the vast espionage that existed in the State Dept. Coulter is smart, funny and hot to boot. Girly boys should pass on this title. Its not for the touchy feely crowd.

Treason

Brillant work by Ann Coulter. Joe McCarthy was villified throughout my history classes for no good reason. Ann Coulter points out why the left did not like him, he exposed them for who they were and are, traitors. Her work is detailed to make sense to the modern reader. She likens past figures in the Roosevelt and Truman administrations to the current Bush administration figures and how these past figures worked with Soviets to undermine the USA, to the way our modern leaders would be working with al-Quaeda to undermine us currently.

So you want the Truth.... here it is!

I have never been one to read books or listen to audio on politics. But, When Ann Coulter speaks, she speaks the truth. Those whom she commnents about don't like her because she is telling it the way it is. If you don't believe me give this one a listen and you will understand. She uses facts....Yes facts, to back her points.. Check them out if you doubt her.
