Monotone,I stopped at ch. 3

Story kicks off very slowly and the AI voiceover is one note. If you’re looking for a book that you can fall asleep to, this is it.

alA great listen!

The book starts out a little slow. The AI narration is a strange and chops up some of the words, but the book is lovely. It is a good story.

I hated the AI reading

The virtual voice made this story hard to follow. I did not realize the reader before purchasing. I will be avoiding in the future.

Great story, bad virtual voice

I loved the story line and the message was powerful. The artificial intelligence reader has no inflection and was choppy. There are still somethings a human can just do better

Friendship

Friendships are a dime and a dozen. Money associated with friends is sometimes a pitfall. The storyline was amazing and educational.

A Story Very Close To Home!

The realization of this book was so startling. As a Black woman, some of the hardships and familial experiences were very relatable to me. We often put up with a lot for the ones we love, on our jobs, and to just maintain a piece of sanity. I enjoyed each of the main character's storylines; although some it was heart wrenching. I particularly took delight in the ladies having a book club to draw them away from the worries of everyday life, and that brought them together. These ladies encouraged, supported and uplifted one another. They spoke what was on their minds without being offensive one to another. They did not press judgement upon one another. I applaud Julia for having the courage to approach her friends with the idea of advancing themselves. It was disheartening to learn that they had lost Ruth; however, look at how she left them with a blessing to carry on. This was a really good book. On another note, having the book read by a virtual voice took away some of the sensitivity. The virtual voice was unable to pronounce some of the words, and caused some of the sentences to have breaks between the words; it was a bit unnatural.
Thanks
