About this listen

How do we know the New Testament is reliable?

It matters—but discussions on whether the New Testament is historically accurate can be tedious and overwhelming. We want to be confident that the reports in the New Testament are true and dependable, but scholarly discussions around the authenticity of the events recounted in Scripture can be challenging to navigate.

Dr. Ben Shaw provides the clear introduction we've needed for understanding the New Testament's historical reliability. In his book, Trustworthy, he systematically surveys key issues related to New Testament reliability and provides guidance for those setting out to explore the evidence. Concise, to-the-point chapters equip listeners to answer the challenging questions one encounters when discussing the credibility of the New Testament. Addressing a wide variety of evidence including archaeology, authorship, text criticism, and non-Christian sources, Shaw leads listeners through the key scholarly topics related to New Testament reliability.

Here's the truth: we can trust the New Testament not only for its historical accuracy but also as a guide to life.

Dr. Shaw does a great job presenting clear and concise arguments for the New Testament's reliability. I have met Dr. Shaw and have enjoyed his presentations at the Southern Evangelical Seminary's annual apologetics conference in North Carolina. He has a warmth and wit that's very affable. Sadly the narrator wasn't able to convey Dr. Shaw's personality and cadence and made me think that if Spock were to design a communications droid, like C3PO in Star Wars, that is what the results would sound like. Otherwise it's an enjoyable audio book and very easy to understand.

Great book, poor voice

The content is very interesting and informative. Good brief intellectual discussions without going so far in depth as to lose us normal folks. The reader sounds like a machine, I would have preferred some personality.

Very interesting material!
