About this listen

It may be Vegas, but the odds of being attacked by your boss and outlaw bikers on the same night—slim.

My boss, I should have seen coming. Thanks to the life I left behind. I know an abuser when I see one, and it was just a matter of time until he found out I've been lying.

As for The Knights of Steel MC, the only way to keep them quiet was to go with them, except the club president's obsession with me goes beyond their escort service and BDMS clients. I bet my life on it.

I can't trust anyone—especially not my handler. He's running from his past too, and his infatuation scares me for a different reason.

All I know is that if I want my freedom, I'll need to double down and guard my heart as closely as my body….

Trigger Warning: This is a dark romantic suspense. It contains adult themes and may include triggers for some (non-consensual touching, near-rape, light BDSM activities, confinement, discussions of past sexual abuse experienced by the heroine, and references to the hero's war experiences). It is not a gender neutral listen with much of the plot occurring in an outlaw motorcycle club setting, Intended for 18+

Developed Characters and Good Story

The book started off a bit slow, but the plot progresses nicely as the book goes along. Overall, the plot is good. The author does a good job showing the conflict WM has between Rory and the Motorcycle club. In a lot of ways, it can symbolize the struggle he has between his past and future.

The characters are well developed and lets the reader connect with them. It makes you genuinely curious what decisions they make as the book progresses.

The ending was what I expected, but nonetheless a good end to the story. It sets up nicely for a sequel, and it could be good since there are so many different ways to continue the plot with another book.

The narration was ok. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the narrator, but it wasn’t bad by any means. If you like spicy books and romance intertwined, Truth Moon does a good job of answering the call on both of those. If that’s the type of book you’re looking for, this is a good book for you.

Gripping MC romance

This book kept me guessing. Though it checked just about every box for dark romance, the main characters still managed to bring a lightness to it all. I am not a big fan of BDSM themes because I find them a bit cheesy. However, I enjoyed the diversity and depth of the characters. It has a well thought out plot and just when you think you know what will happen it surprises you. It leaves off on a bit of a cliff hanger but could be a happy ending as well. The narration was easy to listen to and keeps you engaged without being boring or over the top. Over all, it was worth listening to and to consider reading the rest of the series.

Solid MC romance!

I’d first just like to note that the authors trigger warnings are absolutely accurate and if you’re not used to dark romance, this might not be for you.

Now to get into the book, for this being the author’s debut novel I was thoroughly impressed! The plot, characters, and dialogue were all very well fleshed out and flowed nicely. I wasn’t taken out of the story at any point, and found myself interested in what was going to happen next. The dynamic of The Knights of Steel MC is interesting and side-characters were even well thought out.

The romance between the FMC and MMC was HOT. Yes, so many red flags, and yes— I’d never let these type of things pass in real life but WOW the dark romance in this book is very very well done!

The only issue I have with this whole book is the sentence structure. That may sound off but all of the sentences (could just be the narrator?) are all very concise and to the point. Maybe that’s my own personal preference, but I think it could do with more descriptive drawn out sentences to really draw you in.

Overall this is a solid 4-star read and worth giving a listen. I applaud Kay Freeman for this being her debut novel!

Unique and steamy romance <3

There were some elements to this story that caught me off guard, but I did enjoy the book. Although the narrator had a nice voice, it wasn't the kinda tone I expect to find in a dark romance. That and the religious undertones of the book took me by surprise. I didn't mind either aspect. It was just unlike most of the dark romance books I have read. It does make the book stand out in the genre, though.

Rory develops throughout the book and finds strength within herself. W.M. is the morally grey antihero everyone hopes to find in their dark romance picks. He almost ruined that for me when he thought Rory chose to strip, but he quickly redeemed himself.

There was a triggering scene at one point in the book. It almost got too dark for me, but Kay beautifully utilized a metaphor and immediately pulled me out of it. (Kay has appropriate trigger warnings listed.)

I really enjoyed Truth Moon and I will be sure to listen or read any followup books Kay writes.

Dark and exciting

It took a bit to get into the story but I was hooked by the third chapter. The trigger warning is not a marketing gimmick, it's a dark story from start to finish. There's a lot of action and you'll be guessing who will turn out to be the real anti-hero.
Brock Donovan is a great narrator. He gives characters a unique voice without sounding cartoonish.
The characters run from tortured pasts that aren't as far behind as they think. Compassion and romance are found in unexpected corners of a gritty environment.
Truth Moon is an entertaining, dark, edgy, and suspenseful listen. I was left wanting to see what happens in the sequel.

Intense

This story was intense. Some parts drew me in slowly while other parts had me on edge. But all of it kept me captivated. I needed to know what was going to happen. I had to listen to the very end to discover this girls secret. …and a secret she may not even know herself.
