About this listen

This program is read by the author.

When former Ohio governor John Kasich ran for president, his powerful message of hope and togetherness struck a chord with American voters. In Two Paths: America Divided or United, he carries that message forward by reflecting on the tumultuous 2016 campaign, sharing his concerns for America and his hopes for our future, and sounding a clarion call to reason and purpose, humility and dignity, righteousness and calm.

“The country never looked so grand and magnificent as it did from ten thousand feet,” he writes of his time on the campaign trail, “and it was always a thrilling, faith-affirming thing to look out our window and see the sun splashing across Bryce Canyon in Utah, or the lights of the New York skyline at night as we flew past the Statue of Liberty, or an open field in the heartland that ran as far as our eyes could see.... I’d look out and think what an honor it would be to lead this great nation, what a blessing.”

To be sure, the full story of the 2016 Presidential race will be written over time, but to understand what it was to be on the front lines of one of the most divisive and corrosive campaign battlegrounds in history, listeners won’t find a richer, more thoughtful firsthand account than this one - a frank, refreshing assessment of the American dynamic and a clear path we might follow toward a more promising tomorrow.

As former governor Kasich reminds us in these pages, America is great because America is good - and because Americans have stayed true to who we are: one nation, under God, indivisible.

Interesting insight into the 2016 Pres. campaign

After watching a recent interview with Kasich on Youtube I spontaneously purchased his book without reading any reviews of it or really knowing what to expect beforehand. The book centers around Kasich's 2016 campaign for the Republican nomination while providing a lot of background information about his origins, beliefs and character. It touches on the divisions within America today and the sad reality of how a great many of politicians place party loyalty above even their own principles. As someone not affiliated with any political party, I found it to be very interesting reading, and it left me with a very positive impression of Kasich as a man of integrity.

Life of illusion

First I'll say that Kasich, to me, was the best Republican in the race. Also, I would have voted for Kasich over Hillary. But, I've lived in Toledo, Ohio all of my life. 58 years to be exact. Toledo is a wasteland. Toledo has been destroyed by "Trickle Down Economics". We've lost over 40,000 in population in the last 10 years. Toledo has nothing to offer. It's because of the lack of investment in our people. Although Kasich is not an extremist, He is still part of the problem.

A Liberal’s Take

I wanted to reach across the aisle for my next book - this book didn’t disappoint. He didn’t convince me on any policy initiatives but I felt connected to his stories about his family and the campaign. I appreciate his take on our current political climate. It’s worth a listen for everyone!

Looking forward to 2020 Warren v Kasich debates

Where does Two Paths rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

First, I voted for Kasich TWICE in 2016. So maybe I already knew enough about him that this book did not grab me as much as it will you. I didn't realize how much I disagreed with his politics so I don't know if I would vote fro him in a different election. But his assessment of the last election cycle was encouraging (as was that expressed in the Al Franken book).

PRO: Kasch will be a political force in the future and it is good to know who this man is.
CON: very little in hard answers to the problems that our government is obligated to address.

If you didn't vote for Kasich, you would be well advised to become familiar.
