About this listen

"Full throttle fun, malice, and mayhem, sorted by the team known as Sharpe." (Suz Korb)

Have you ever had one of those days? You know the type, you start out rescuing a kidnapped scientist from a megalomaniac known only as Mr. E, and in the process, you destroy his doomsday machine, kill at least a baker’s dozen henchmen, and get just a little bit shot.

For Shelly and Spacer Sharpe, that’s what they call a Tuesday. It isn’t until they try to take a vacation from their lives as freelance spies that things really begin to turn south.

The Vegas magician Mystery, the man behind the doomsday machine, has heard about their brave rescue and decided to change his plans to include them in his mysterious scheme. Now, Shelly and Spacer have to figure out what Mystery’s plan is and stop him before he can wreak havoc upon not only the world but also the Whitmans, their vay-cay neighbors who turn out to be very nice folks to whom Spacer takes a particular shine.

Their only aids in this case are a biker gang who are all terrified of Shelly, a private investigator who refuses to carry a gun, and a warehouse crammed full of cars, gadgets, and guns, just, you know, all of the guns.

Two Sharpe is the next highly anticipated escapade from Ryan Hunter, the best-selling author of Ted & Stuff.

I’m not really sure the main characters are spies, but without any real government agency involvement, they sure have exciting misadventures. Good action. Acceptable plot for this genre. Liked the characters (and they were a bit less 2 dimensional than most spies in books).

Clearly, though, this is an installment in a series... there’s still a full book with an ending, so that’s okay.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for a review.
