Publisher's summary

The world thinks they know Holland Oates.

She’s the solo female in a rock band loved by millions, and she’s got it all: the fame, the money, and the career.

But they don’t know her. Holland has shrouded herself in a lie for years.

Raiden Rhodes has been in love with Holland for ages. As the band’s road and tour manager, he watches her perform night after night for sold out crowds. And he believes what they all do.

Holland is untouchable.

When the secret Holland has kept for years is leaked to the press, the picture-perfect image she’s struggled to uphold is blasted to bits. Suddenly, Holland is at the center of a public scandal, and all the reports are true.

Raiden is blindsided by the news. But underneath it all, he can see the woman who is simply desperate to be loved.

Gave me all the feels!

Tragedy, triumph, heartbreak, healing, and most importantly LOVE. Raid and Holland take you through all the emotions but you will never doubt, for one second, the love between these two. Raid stood by Hollands side through everything and proved to her that she deserved all the happiness and love he wanted to give her. Their HEA may leave you grabbing a tissue.

Sweet emotional story!

Holland and Raid’s story was wonderful! We learn about the trauma in Hollands past at the same time as Raid and everyone else. So heartbreaking to hear how Holland felt and the pain she held in for a decade alone. I loved how Raid loved her and helped her learn the Band and him were her family and would have her back no matter what.

BORING, REPETITIVE & NOPE SORRY, NOT FOR ME

Even Jason and Ava’s excellent narration couldn’t save this listen for me because it was so damn drawn out... Holland had secrets and, after each one was painstakingly revealed, she hated and questioned herself more. She questioned the band’s loyalty and love constantly even though they’d all been together for years and had all sworn to support her and get her through it. However, she still kept her secrets from them and still still still didn’t think they’d support her. The romance between her and Raid, who’d loved her for years, was really a side addition to the main story about her secrets.. secrets she also continued to hold back from him expecting they’d destroy the love they both felt too.

I put it on double speed to get through the predictable, repetitive and boring chapters (which was absolute sacrilege to do to the wonderful narration by JC) and eventually, in the last couple of chapters. Holland did what I thought she should do from the start.. trust the people who love you, share everything with them, go public and take your blackmailing ex down. However, it was squeezed in, skimmed over, briefly talked about but not shown and unfortunately didn’t do anything to change my negative feelings towards this story.

Worth a credit? Sadly no 🥱 it’s a shame this didn’t float my particular boat.. but maybe it’ll be plain sailing for you 🙂 .
