About this listen

Even the greatest tragedy can light the path to love and happiness.

Jessie Jarvis is a drifter, and when he begins work for Bill Paulson, he doesn’t imagine he’ll be staying in Daisy Creek for long. But the town captures his heart, and finally, he feels the urge to settle down.

Inspired by Bill’s marriage, Jessie places an ad for a mail-order bride, and soon he’s falling in love with Mary Marsh’s letters.

Mary’s life has been beset by tragedy, and she’s a vision of strength as she wrestles with grief over her father’s death and her mother’s resulting sickness.

A new life with Jessie in Daisy Creek could be exactly what she’s looking for: an opportunity to build a bright future in the face of tragedy.

But tragedy hasn’t finished with Mary, and when she arrives at Daisy Creek, she’s met with devastating news that sends all her plans into turmoil.

There’s a savior on the horizon, though, and as she struggles to come to terms with her new circumstances, Pastor John is shining light in the darkness - and a surprising twist in Mary’s story.

Mary has a future ahead of her, and a love story is about to unfurl...but it isn’t the one she expected, and she will have to deal with far more heartache before she can make sense of what’s truly in store for her.

Unexpected Mail Order Bride for the Pastor is an inspiring tale of love rising from the ashes. Follow Mary as she carves out a bright future in the face of tragedy, and finds love stronger than she ever imagined.

I listened to this great book by Amelia Rose. This was a great storyline and I fell in love with the characters. It is a great continuation of this series, however, you can read it as a stand-alone and not be lost.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Audiobooks Unleashed in exchange for an honest review.
Book 2 in the Daisy Creek Brides Series was an enjoyable experience. Mary answered the ad and exchanged letters with Jesse until her mother passed. She made the decision to travel to Nebraska to meet him. She establishes life long friendships along the way that help her through tough times. The story was believable and the warmth of the community showed through. The narration was good. I've read several books by this author and find them interesting and heartfelt.

Having done over 25 books from this narrator, Gina Dobbs, and she is consistently very good. I may be shallow, but is a narrator mispronounces a few words or repeats a sentence it disrupts my listening pleasure. Dobbs uses a variety of breath placements, so you do not get that annoying sing-songy pattern.

Great Narrator, Good Mail Order Bride Story

Book Two of the series, this one begins with Mary, a young woman who lost her father 2 years ago and whose mother is in failing health. She’s working in the laundry and is struggling to eke out their basic needs. She answers a mail-order bride ad from Jesse. They develop a good relationship through subsequent letters. When her mother dies, Mary decides to leave Ohio for Nebraska.
Sadly, Jesse is killed trying to stop an armed robbery. So when Mary arrives she’s met with more tragic news. The couple from book one take her in and help her. The pastor visits to make her feel welcome and they become friends. I like that they didn’t rush into a romantic relationship but allowed it to unfold.
It’s a sweet read with a happy ending.
The Audible narrator is good as always.
