About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Brenda Novak returns to Silver Springs.

Sometimes starting over means finding everything you've been missing.

After catching her fiancé cheating - with another man - usually straitlaced, workaholic scientist Ellie Fisher liberates her wild side just long enough to indulge in a passionate one-night stand with a tall, dark stranger she meets at a trendy Miami bar. Embarrassed by her recklessness, she ducks out the following morning without learning the guy's full name, something that shouldn't have been a problem - until a pregnancy test turns positive.

Being a professional football player, Hudson King has always been cautious around women. But this one had been different - so disinterested in his celebrity, so convincingly into him. When Ellie tracks him down, claiming she's carrying his baby, he's stunned. And more than a little betrayed.

But after growing up as an orphan, he'll do anything to stay involved in his child's life, so he urges Ellie to move to Silver Springs, where they can coparent. Hudson has a lot of love to give, certainly enough for his child and, when their initial spark reignites, perhaps for Ellie, too.

Cute but. . .

My one complaint about this book is that orphanages do not exist is the USA. If you are writing a book you should probably do a little fact checking. Many Orphanages in the USA were closed in the 50s as the foster care system started replacing them and then closed in the 60s when the federal government starting backing the foster care system.

fantastic book, was so sorry to see this book end

I loved this book so much. The female lead is an intelligent, quirky, kind individual. The male lead was an athlete, so in some ways it was an opposites attract (Initially anyways) storyline. I was honestly so disappointed to see this book come to an end. It was interesting, sexy, and had twists and turns all the way until the end. I consider myself picky about books because I like romances but I don’t like to read about dumb women or overbearing males. This book was not that, it was done super well, and also it is apart of a series but I would consider it a stand alone as the aspects that made it apart of the series were so minimal that I barely noticed them.

A- rating overall

My Review:
I really liked this book, although Hudson and Ellie are the most unlikely couple ever. He's one of the most recognized quarterbacks in the NFL and she has no clue who he is because she's a scientist who spends all her life in the lab. But when she finds out her fiance is gay and cheating on her, her friend decides she needs a night out to let loose. Well, Ellie does and of course you know what's going to happen...there are repercussions.

I liked Ellie and Hudson together...a lot. She's a very straight-forward, no nonsense woman. She looks at the logic of things and weighs the pros and cons. Hudson wants to be involved with his baby's life and they live on two different coasts. That's not acceptable. So he offers her a deal which she accepts.

They go into this thinking this is just a realistic arrangement, but that chemistry that hit them the night they met starts to work its magic.

The part of this story that really worked for me was Hudson's background. He was found under a bush as a newborn. It's a riveting story for a famous NFL athlete. That made all his conflict about a baby very realistic. He never planned on bringing a child into this world and is always VERY careful. As a result, he's awful to Ellie when she finally manages to track him down. Those scenes are some of the best and most emotional in the book. But it felt like a realistic reaction based upon what he knows.

Overall this was a good book. I enjoyed it.

Absolutely loved this book and love this series!

I really enjoyed the story line. The main characters Ellie and Hudson brought life to this story and their issues hit touchy and taboo subjects. This book is a page turner --- I found it difficult to put down. I strongly recommend this book and the series!
