About this listen

Where will you be when the world ends? What will you do to save the lives of people you love? When a genetically modified virus is released to eradicate the disease known as Man, survival is all that matters. In the first book of this epic saga, follow the men of ODA-141, the Outlaws and the SEALs of Shark Platoon in this hard-hitting, real-world look at life before, during, and after an apocalyptic event. The AI narration was flat and simple words mispronounced repeatedly.. story wasn't bad for the genre. I'm out of things to say but the app wants a longer review.

Not a fan

Why use AI voice if you don’t fully use AI for what it is? Use it to make characters sound slightly different, should be a breeze all things considered. A human does a better job than an AI, on top of that humans can pronounce words correct when AI cannot as well as use exclamation on words instead of droning out yelled words. Like “Move Move Move!” Anyone who read that knows how it’s supposed to be read, instead you have AI saying like this “move. move. move.” Like what the f man…

Solid plot

This is a very surprisingly good story and it will definitely draw you into it quickly. The writer does so much right to keep your attention with how well the characters are and how the story unfolds. Excellent work from a very creative perspective on this subject and Will definitely be on the lookout for the rest of this series. Only drawback really is the virtual voice has a negative impact on this great story. It's very flat and emotionally as dead as the zombies but even this and how the writer gets a little description overboard at times does NOT slow the pace of this story. will be following this author and looking for more of their work. RECOMMENDED FOR ZOMBIE FANS!!!

Very good story and it will definitely draw you in

The story itself is good. It moves at a good clip and is interesting. Virtual voice puts people out of work and detracts from any listening experience.

Virtual Voice is terrible.

Overall I enjoyed the book but the virtual voice really didn’t help the story. The voice was distracting because of the mispronunciation and run on sentences. The story was pretty good and I enjoyed it but the narrator just made it bland.

Virtual voice defeats the story

It could have veen really good. Virtual voice made it so hard to listen. Other than that it was good story.

Please stop using virtual voice

Well, I’ve been reading The Tide series by another author. Similar situations and reason for the apocalypse.

However, this author seems to think only men can be scientists, doctors, chemists, knowledgeable about weapons, or being strong in the military.
The few women mentioned are beautiful, prostitutes and great at doing dishes. In other words unimportant and valuable only as support candy. (Oh thank you for being so smart and strong, let me hug you and have the sex with you, so you know you are appreciated.) 🤮🤮

Is this an honest mistake or omission? Doubtful.

The Tide series has some kick ass Doctors, special forces militants, intelligent civilians, and researchers that are women. I much prefer that series.

My favorite genre is apocalyptic, zombies aren’t a requirement. I do read/listen to a LOT of this type of fiction, and this particular series is definitely written for
men. I guess I better continue listening while I’m doing dishes.

Zombie Apocalypse

the AI ruined what could have been an engaging story. The monotone reading made following multi person scenes difficult. And the mispronouncing of words drove me crazy.

no more AI narrators

The Ai narrator ruined it for me. This could have been an ok story, and maybe it gets better in the second book but there isn't a compelling reason to continue listening. I only finished it because it helped me fall adlerp.

Nothing new

Amazon, stop this AI narration BS. This could be a great book, but sucks cause of the AI BS. You just can’t get into the story with the disjointed narration and monotone script. It is awful.
