Great Read

Veiled was a great read by Kat Green. Kara Tate is starting new in a new home after the end of her marriage. The first night she drunkingly discovers something under the floorboards. Kara and her best friend unlocked a dark secret that had been buried for a long time. She must unveil the truth of Sapphire Lake estate before her new life can begin. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

do NOT put on that dress!

8/3/19-
i finished this book on 7/31/19.. it's been a few days. the story has stuck with me and i think some adjustments need to be made. i'm raising my rating from 3.5 stars to 4. After thinking about the unique storytelling that fills us in on the lives of the Davenports, i decided to change my rating. We learn about them through the haunting and interactions between Kara and the ghost. i liked that a lot. like i said in the original review below, this is a good haunted house/ ghost story.

3.5***
Veiled is a short story about a lady that moves into a haunted house. yeah, yeah, i know it's been done over and over but i'm actually quiet fond of a good haunted house story. this is a good haunted house story. There's more than one ghost and they are quiet active. i would read or listen to more from this author.
I listened to the audio book. It's narrated by Lesley Dessalles. She does a great job reading it.

i would like to thank the author, Kat Green, for the audio book. This review is my own and i have been completely honest.

Short but Ghosty

While 'Veiled' definitely relies on some standard "paranormal tropes" it is still a fun listen for anyone who enjoys paranormal content. This felt like young adult fiction, I think the closer you are to your teens/early twenties, the more you'll enjoy this one. Lesley Dessalles gives a good performance.

A fun ghost story that loses a bit in its brevity

This is a ghost story that picks up and gets moving right away. No chapters of the protagonist wondering if they really heard a bump in the night. Very little time spent on disbelief and trying to explain things away (well, mostly). I liked that about this story. The ghosts were in your face and the story was ready to move.

Because the story moves pretty fast, I felt some of the atmosphere and chill factor got lost. There were also a number of revelations that felt like they should've had a much heavier gravity when revealed -- some of the plot twists should have had a bigger impact (and some are still a bit confusing). By the end, we were basically in epilogue mode with the protagonist explaining everything else that happened to us vs the reader experiencing it (show, not tell!).

The narrator had a pleasant voice that fit the tone of the story very well. In the beginning, I did listen at 1.25x speed as I felt it was a bit slow, but as it went on I was able to dial it back down to 1x.

All that said, it was still a pretty good ghost story.

I was provided this audio book free of charge.

Wonderful ghost story

I just finished listening to this story and I surprisingly really liked it. It’s hard to find a really good ghost story that isn’t full of cursing and sex. This was just a beautifully written old fashioned type ghost story that I truly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend. I was given this audio in exchange for unbiased review and did not reflect either way a good or bad review. I honestly really liked it.

Great Creepy Story

I am a fan of Kat Green. I love her twisted creepy stories. I also love listening to Lesley Dessalles narrate. I love how her accent just brings more to a story. This story grabbed me right away and did not let me go until the We hope you enjoyed this program. I love ghost and haunted house books, Kat really brought it with this book. This house is filled with multiple ghosts and Kat even gives the story of almost all of the ghosts in the house.

In the book Kara Tate buys a old house to settle in. Almost immediately strange things being to happen. Even though she is terrified she cannot stand the thought of leaving the house empty but also cannot sell the house and let it be someone else's problem. The longer she stays the more she learns about the Davenports and their awful fates. The Davenports were the original owners. It is up to Kara to put the Davenports and all the other ghosts to rest.
