Publisher's summary

Ishmael Jones travels to the Scottish Highlands on a mysterious dual mission in this intriguing, genre-blending mystery.

The Organization has dispatched Ishmael and his partner Penny to Coronach House on the shores of Loch Ness, where the secretive but highly influential Baphamet Group are holding their annual meeting. The Organization believes an imposter has infiltrated the Group, and they have instructed Ishmael to root him - or her - out. It's not Ishmael's only mission. The first agent sent by the Organization has been found dead in her room, murdered in a horribly gruesome manner. Ishmael must also discover who killed Jennifer Rifkin, his fellow agent - and why.

Dismissive of rumors that the legendary "Coronach Creature" is behind Jennifer's death, Ishmael sets out to expose the human killer in their midst. But he must act fast - before any more very important people are killed.

Excellent Listen

Great book. Much better than the previous book. Fast paced plot, and it keeps you guessing until the end. Despite what some reviewers say, I actually like Penny. She can take care of herself and she's a nice contrast to Ishmael.

Great talent

These books are great, but Gildart Jackson’s ability to alter his many accents with ease is very entertaining and engaging! Keep them coming!

Jackson brings Ismael to life. Green is truly worth reading. I highly recommend this book. although the other books are not necessary to enjoy the story. the dark side of the street is recommended

...Forest for the Trees.

Gildart Jackson does a marvelous job of narrating as always, but this book was not up to Simon R. Green's usual standard.

If you're a mystery fan, you'll probably have the "who" part of the "whodunit" figured out pretty early on. It's still a good read, but it may be frustrating if you're reading these for the "mystery" aspect. If you can put it to the back of your mind or are reading it for the fun of it, then it's still a good read!

EXCELLENT.

Most enjoyable. The plot was fantastic. Lots of tension and intrigue. The story flows smoothly with Gildart Jackson's narration/performance. The voices of the different characters were very good. I was so engrossed with the story that I stayed up late to finish the book. Simon a Green is a very talented writer. I love this series. I hope there will be more books on this series coming out soon.

Had ups and downs

Another decent effort, but still fell short in the end. It’s easy to get caught up in the story because the characters are very interesting especially Ishmael and Penny. The supporting characters also had promise, but the plot was very wonky and at some points preposterous. Some of it didn’t make sense. Other parts of the story were too predictable. In some places I felt the author just gave up and didn’t want to work out the rest of the plot points. It’s the superb talent of the narrator that keeps one engaged and entertained.

Book 3 is really good...

Oh my, how I love this series. It isn't your crazy dystopian, military space opera, but it is a wonderful listen. I do love Ishmael, but I have to say I think Penny is really becoming my favorite character. She is delightful, witty, brave (like crazy brave) and funny! "Spy Girl" power!

Not Very Good

Weakest one in the series. The plot is obvious from very early on, nearly the beginning.
