About this listen

Katarina, a young violinist, arrives at the Pietà orphanage where Antonio Vivaldi was music director. Aided by Giovanni the gondolier, she searches throughout Venice for clues to her mysterious past.

Over two dozen excerpts, including Vivaldi’s best-loved "Four Seasons" (with real sound effects), guitar piccolo and trumpet concertos. Also featured are many of the violin pieces played by young violinists today.

Car alarm in a symphony, what!?

Loved revisiting this classic from my childhood.

Shocked by the chapter interruptions, seriously!? It’s like a car alarm going off in the middle of a symphony!

Great introduction to Vivaldi for kids of all ages (I’m now in my 30’s and still love it!).

Wish they had more from this series on audible.

The chapter breaks

Are extremely annoying. Otherwise it’s the same wonderful story that my children listened to as children. Sharing with my grandchildren now.

Great story, why the inexplicable chapter narration?

I listened to this a zillion times on cassette as a kid. This is the same story. Except some dude in a monotone interrupts the story with chapter numbers. Sometimes, it's even in the middle of a sentence. The original had no chapters, it was one continuous 30 minutes. So this is a change that makes the listening experience so much worse.

perfect intro to Vivaldi for children, highly enjoyable, my 4 year old was humming and dancing to it and really involved with the story.

Why the chapter narration?

The “chapter 1”, “chapter 2” thing is unbelievably annoying. Almost ruins the wonderful story. Please, Amazon, fix it.

Good vintage kid content

The chapter names are unnecessary and obtrusive but this is still a great listen for families.

Bad Chapter Breaks

This version had just awful chapter breaks. They will literally cut off in the middle of a sentence and an obtrusive voice will announce the new chapter. If I remember correctly, the version I listened to as a kid (on cassette) didn’t have any chapters at all. Seriously it’s distracting and almost ruins the story.

We would love if audible offered the rest of this series…these are as timeless as the music of the composers they’re about ✨🎶🎭🎻🎺🎼🎵🎹

I listened to this as a homeschooled child and still enjoy it with my children

I listened to this as a homeschooled child and still enjoy it with my children.

I don’t love the chapter breaks, but it’s beautifully narrated with Vivaldi’s music. I’d love to hear his operas.
