About this listen

The Nashville woods hold a killer's deadly secrets in this cold case thriller by the New York Times best-selling author of You're Not Safe.

Years ago, three Nashville teenagers went into the woods for a hike - and only one came out. While her two friends disappeared without a trace, Amber Ryder was discovered at the bottom of a ravine with a broken arm, head trauma, and zero memory of the horror that put her there. With no leads, the investigation hit a dead end.

Now another woman's body is found it the woods. When the trail leads to the missing teens' remains, the cold case becomes a fresh hell for forensic technician Georgia Morgan. But while Georgia works with Amber to try and reawaken her memories, her gut tells her the worst is yet to come.

Homicide Detective Jake Bishop can't be sure whether Amber is an expert manipulator or the killer's next target. Either way, he's determined to protect Georgia. Because the more she digs into the past, the more deadly secrets emerge. And a nightmare years in the making is about to come to a bloody, terrifying end.

Contains mature themes.

Narration was good

Great story!

I love Mary Burton but the narrators of this book made it impossible to capture my attention. I listen all the way to chapter 6 hoping that instagram would pick up at some point but the monotonous flat voice of the narrators made it impossible.

Painful to listen to

The narration is horrendous. I also hate when women are portrayed as tough strong girl bosses YET acts so moronic & childish around a man. 'I like him, but can't tell him, he needs to read my mind. I'll act uninterested while repeatedly accusing him of having a girlfriend'. So exhausting. I couldn't finish. The murder is interesting & I'd like to know what happened but this grown up insane school girl crush along with the horrendously ridiculous narration, I don't care about the murder.

This book tells the story of the last sibling, the adopted Morgan daughter. She, as a forensic scientist with a curious mind, is put in charge of cold cases, by her oldest brother, the Nashville PD Chief.
The story centers around a five year old cold case of 3 teens who went into the forest but only one came out, and she has amnesia.
This book is well worth the credit, but I suggest that while the books can be read as stand alone stories, you'll have a richer understanding of the family and its dynamics if you start with the oldest brother and then the other brothers in order. All 4 of the books in the series are well worth the credits!

Book #4, NOT book #2!

Good story IF you can suffer through the terrible narration. Relieved this was in the Plus Catalogue !

Terrible Narration - Good Story

Usually, I really enjoy this author. I read others in this series. This author tends to border on emotional meanness between characters who then magically fall in love, but the mystery and twists are worth it. Not this book. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

The gratuitous sex is fine when it suits the story or character development. I'm not a prude at all, but gratuitous sex between teenagers and their half brother, and worse yet sex between a father and daughter represented without any disgust or acknowledgement that it was wrong. like "Oh yeah, she seduced her father and had raunchy sex with her brother, intentionally, but let's just focus on her victimology and supposed amnesia. There was so much sex in this book, it seemed it was every 30 seconds when people started getting naked. It actually pulled the story away from continuity.

This book was also the first from this author that was predictable, and painstakingly slow. Although I have purchased titles from this author, and I have loved quite a few of the series, this book has taken her off my reading list for a while.

There should be some disclaimers....and a different narrator.

The final book (#4) in the Morgan of Nashville Series (although the sub-title indicates #2). I enjoyed the writing, the storyline and the twists. I found Rachel Harris's narration a little grating. Although most of her character dialogues were pretty good, some were horrible and she was monotone and draggy during the narrative parts, of which there were many in the audiobook. I increased the speed to 1.2 and found that this helped significantly.

Clever Romantic Suspense

The narration was terrible, robotic, like she was reading from a script. Her character voices were totally off.

The story was not very well fleshed out. The characters not very interesting.

I have read a lot of Mary Burton books & this one had a lot more sex than normal. Seemed unnecessary.

A lot of sex in this one

How are books produced by a company that doesn’t find issue in awful narration!?
Great story but fell flat due to narration.

HORRIBLE NARRATION!!
