About this listen

Twelve-year-old Molly and her 10-year-old brother, Michael, have never liked their younger stepsister, Heather. Ever since their parents got married, she's made Molly and Michael's life miserable. Now their parents have moved them all to the country to live in a house that used to be a church, with a cemetery in the backyard.

If that's not bad enough, Heather starts talking to a ghost named Helen and warning Molly and Michael that Helen is coming for them. Molly feels certain Heather is in some kind of danger, but every time she tries to help, Heather twists things around to get her into trouble. It seems as if things can't get any worse.

But they do - when Helen comes.

This book gave me chills when I was in the 5th grade 30 years ago! Listening to it now, as an adult, gave me the same excited chills! So wonderful to reconnect with a long lost childhood memory.

The story good and kept me interested however the person telling the story needed to clear up her voice. At times it sound like she had something in her mouth

Intriguing

this book was read out loud by my 5th grad teacher and once she was finished, I checked it out of the library and kept renewing it as long as they would let me. I'm 43 and I still love this book and traditionally listen around Halloween, while at work. I also now own this physical copy, thanks to modern ways of finding these old favorites.

This was one of my favorite books when I was in elementary school! I remember rereading it, so that I could feel the eerie suspense again and again. Now I am a teacher, and shared the book with my fifth and sixth grade students. They absolutely loved it! Even my male students, who are usually hard to motivate when it comes to reading, were hanging on each word!

Loved the story and the depth of the characters, as well as the readers voice. Some audio books are excruciatingly hard to listen to because they sound like a robot is speaking, but this audiobook was refreshingly vibrant and full of colorful language and intonations. I I really, really enjoyed it!

This book isn't recommended for super young kids. I believe I read it around second grade, and I think if you have a kid that likes spooky things, this will be a winner. Its a solid story line with good character development, that wraps everything up nicely at the end.

A favorite ghost story from my childhood

It was amazing. This may be the best book I've ever read. I almost cried because the back stories were so sad.
