About this listen

A woman he's never met is carrying his child in USA Today bestselling author Delores Fossen's The Marshals of Maverick County miniseries.

When U.S. marshal Wyatt McCabe tracks his target to a Texas ranch, he isn't the only one with Lyla Pearson in his sights. But Wyatt has a powerful reason for keeping the beautiful CSI director out of the line of fire - he may be the father of the child she's carrying.

The mother-to-be doesn't know who to fear more - the gunmen surrounding her house, or the stranger claiming paternity of her in vitro baby. Holed up together at his family homestead, Lyla struggles to fight her attraction to the sinfully handsome lawman. But with a killer stalking them, it may tear their new family apart....

The narrator didn't do such a great job with the male voices in this audio-book. This was surprising because she did a wonderful job with other titles in this series.

This was a disappointing end to the series.

Once again, there was too much gun play and not enough intrigue.

A trap was set but the bait wasn't warned!?

False confessions are made by both the patriarch and matriarch. Later, the patriarch calls a family meeting to learn the truth while insisting that by providing the false confession they are letting the guilty party go free. When the possible guilty parties in the family all deny guilt he decides to give another false confession to save his family!?!?

Once again the security at the ranch was thwarted.

The Harlequin Intrigue books would be better without ridiculous sex scenes. They always make me roll my eyes. Readers have imaginations, and if the writers chose to omit the sex, we could fill in the blanks ourselves.

More Intrigue is needed.
