About this listen

A music therapist who thrives on helping others, Kendra Michaels cherishes the ordinary life she has achieved after stem cell surgery restored her sight. The skills she perfected during those sightless years - the ability to pick up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her - coupled with her laser-sharp mind - have made her a uniquely potent observer and problem solver. Kendra’s uncanny way of connecting the dots is as baffling to law enforcement as it is legendary.

When former agent Adam Lynch, known as the Puppetmaster, approaches her about a possible serial murder case, she is determined to steer clear. But he’s a notorious manipulator, skilled at handling criminals and colleagues alike to get the results he wants. And now he holds a trump card: The latest possible victim is Kendra’s ex-lover, an FBI agent who vanished without enough clues to follow - unless Kendra can pick up the trail. And if she can’t, she just might close her eyes again ... forever.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. I read the next title in this series first and learned absolutely nothing in this book that I did not learn in the one that follows it. The newer book is also a better read just in general. The characters have been better developed and I like the characters; they are the strength of this series. This book is a waste of time.

Would you recommend Close Your Eyes to your friends? Why or why not?

No, unless I was looking to find new friends.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were scenes?

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

I hope not.

This is a good one!

I enjoyed Elisabeth Rodgers narration once again...she does an excellent job with voices and inflections. I liked the story but would have wished for a more romantic ending. They'd lead up to it but then mess it up. It's good to be a strong woman, but Kendra had almost any sort of issue with compliments thinking everyone wanted to use her. She was mostly always angry. I would have liked for her to be a bit more accepting and not so defensive, maybe even softer. I think they could have had the same plot and outcome even then. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story. Good plot, good surprises, twists and turns with a happy ending. It would be interesting to know if there are people who can do what Kendra could do with her 5 senses. Pretty amazing. I wish there was a sequel to finish or continue with Kendra & Leach's story.

Great

I Love Iris' books, but I do wish it wasn't so full of fowl language.

Good narration

Extremely unlikeable characters, with the exception of MC’s bff. How is it possible to make every character egotistical, unpleasant, and irritating???

Good story line but....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I normally enjoy Iris Johansen's work but the characters in this novel were truly annoying and although the story line was an interesting one it was difficult to make it through due to the constant whining and holier-than-thou main character and two dimensional supporting cast. Not one of Ms. Johansen's better efforts.

What about Elisabeth Rodgers’s performance did you like?

The narrator gets all the credit for keeping me interested enough to listen to this book to the end. She is a talented narrator and it is easy to differentiate between the characters as they are speaking/thinking.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

The story line is an intriguing one but if the dialogue was the same as that which is in the audio book I don't think I could sit through a movie version.

Any additional comments?

Ms. Johansen's writing style and her ability to put together a sentence are still a-one; perhaps she shouldn't collaborate with any other authors, that could be the problem here.

Seeing Everything

I really enjoyed this story, Kendra is a formerly blind persin who regains her sight at age 20, due to those years of blindness her other senses are VERY VERY acute. She notices rhe most minute details bc she uses ALL of her senses not just her eyes. It is probably strerching it a bit how acute her senses are but not so outside the realm of possibilities to make it absurd. Because it COULD be real it makes a great story. Her character is rigid at times, prickly, she offends others easily due to being so intelligent and having others not believe her.
Her partner is just as unique in different ways and therefore was a loner who did not play well with others until he met and manipulated Kendra into helping him. The partnetship/adversarial relationship they have is what makes them so good together.
i definitely recommend this book and look forward to the 2nd.
