About this listen

When a vintage snow glove sends Boston dress designer Louise Martin and British B&B owner George Walker back in time to London, December 1940, they race against the clock to reconcile a feud between their families and solve a 75-year-old mystery.

As Louise relies on George for guidance, friendship then love, will the future he envisions strangle her own dreams?

Will their relationship survive generations of mistrust, the Blitz and the possibility of being stranded in wartime 1940, never to return to their former lives?

Delightful time travel adventure

I learned so much about the conditions of the people during the World War II with the rationing, bombing and uncertainty that they faced every day. The heroine travels back in time and endures the trials of the war as she discovers the secret that keeps her family in turmoil.

WWII, Friendships and Settling Wrongs

This is one of the sweetest and best Christmastime stories I’ve come across. Historical, going back to WWII and the London blitz and friendships ruined by false accusations . . . traveling between 1940 and current day, two descendants of the friends link up to find out the truth. A magical snow globe takes them on a journey that is unbelievable. Louise and George meet their own ancestors, experience the scarcity of war times, and discover that they have much more in common than they imagined. Full of faith, hope and eventually love, this has the promise of becoming an annual holiday classic.

Delightful Journey!

Would you consider the audio edition of War of the Heart to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed the print version of the book but the audio edition really brought the story to life.
The narrator did a wonderful job with the different accents.

What did you like best about this story?

My favorite scene in the book is Christmas Eve in the underground tube in 1940. Wearing their siren suits and gas masks at the ready, the spirit of Christmas is still there. Parents reassuring children that Father Christmas will find them there. The Christmas songs played on accordions. It is also where Louise tells George her whole story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

One moment that particularly moved me was when Louise and George revealed the truth to Piers, reminding him of the speech given by the King on Christmas day. I can't give details because it would give away an important part of the story.

Any additional comments?

I also loved how the author wove prayer throughout the whole story. I was very satisfied with the ending. I highly recommend War of the Heart!
