About this listen

When Jennifer Risher joined Microsoft in 1991, she met her husband and with him became an extra-lucky beneficiary of the dot-com boom. By their early 30s, they had tens of millions of dollars. Today, there are millions of people like her.

Jennifer’s thought-provoking, personal story includes the voices of others in her demographic and explores the hidden impact of wealth on identity, relationships, and sense of place in the world.

At a time when income inequality is a huge problem, our country’s economic system is broken, and money is still a taboo subject even among those closest to us, this engaging, introspective memoir is essential listening: a catalyst for conversation that demystifies wealth and inspires us to connect.

She was honest about feelings, how money can change people and the problem with not talking about money with others. I love how much she got in to donating and getting other wealthy people to do the same.

I loved this book. I have started gaining some wealth in my own life, after living very normal middle class life before that, and now I’m navigating towards the riches and this book provided lot of food for thought. Very interesting book, definitely recommend.

Really interesting read!

I enjoyed hearing about becoming rich and how to become comfortable with it. I also enjoyed how she navigated creating community and being able to brainstorm some of their ideals around how to talk about with their children.

This was one of the most interesting memoirs I have read. At times, I hated the author, and at times I was highly sympathetic. I am very pleased to have listened to this book, and will be recommending it to several friends. in the end it has made me more introspective and hopefully more empathetic, which I think is a worthy goal of any book.

I'm glad this book was written, and I'm glad I was able to listen to it.

This book was fascinating.

After reading tons of books on finance for many years this is easily in the top 3! The candid story is relatable to anyone and especially hits home for anyone even mildly making more money than their upbringing. I really didn’t expect to be blown away but this was downright excellent all around and the reader was fantastic also. I don’t know where to go from here, I just want 10 more hours of this book. I might buy the physical copy just because.

Must read/ listen!
