About this listen

Things were improving between us…that is, until he got the bright idea to kidnap me.

I never thought I’d be tricked into an arranged marriage with an alien warlord. Still, it’s been easy enough to keep my former gladiator husband at arm’s length. But once my translator starts working, the hulking himbo decides he’s tired of waiting and freaking kidnaps me.

I wake up in a picturesque seaside village, and the big lug is only too happy to inform me that it’s all part of his plan to give us time to fall in love. Strangely enough, it turns out he was listening when I told him I loved historical mysteries. He’s brought me to Sueva’s own unsolved mystery: a once-thriving town where all occupants vanished without a trace.

My overthinking brain is all too easily sucked into the riddle—and maybe even the idea of Alvez. Except, the reason the villagers disappeared? It’s not stuck in the past, and we’re in trouble. If Alvez and I want to escape the same fate, we’ll have to rely on each other...and I’ll have to stop overanalyzing my feelings about him.

Enjoyable listen

So far I love this series. Laugh a lot when the aliens have a hard time understanding human slang. Also enjoy their adventures. Hope the rest of the service will be available soon and the spin off one as well. Migraines makes reading difficult.

Wed to the gladiator

Interesting story a good plot. Glad the story line had some twists and turns. Wasn’t my favorite but it was definitely enough to keep me interested to the end.

Golden Retriever MMC - Alvez and Michelle

Alvez The Gladiator and Michelle

Alvez is the golden retriever MMC who is completely in love with his human wife. For the last 2 months their conversations have been one sided as she was unable to understand him. Over this 2 month period, he was falling in love with her and buying anything and everything he saw that reminded him of her. He has been storing all these things in a room for her, hoping to give them to her when she falls in love with him.

On a kidnapped trip to solve a mystery on an alien planet, the trip immediately takes a turn for the worst. But to look at it positively- she got her own alien dog, she solved the mystery, fell in love with her husband and was able to get help for her anxiety and PTSD. I really love the way he took care of and cared for her. She also came to the concussion that she was falling for the alien hunk as well and not just because of his appearance but because of his kind soul and heart.

I really love these two narrators. They do such a perfect job in these types of novels.

The return of the demon sex snails

“No, I’m not going to stay here. Where you go, I go. Haven’t you seen a horror movie before?”
Michelle suffers from panic attacks, so of course karma sends her down a horror path to her HEA.
Not to worry, however, as this series does horror just like everything else: with laughter and love.

“This is a weapon of mass orgasm destruction!”
Alvez is a bit too earnest, and then a bit too into his pity party, but overall this was still a great story.
I loved the effort and attention that Alvez brought to accumulating things he thought his wife would adore.

What’s that Lassie?”
We can add fantastic animal sidekicks to the formula that I’m loving in this series.
And demon sex snails. What would this be without the return of the demon sex snails?

Ok

The storyline was different; but similar to other books in this genre. It had many funny moments. The narrators did a good job.

Definitely enjoyable

I am really enjoying this entire series and if this is your genre, I think you will also plenty of Snark. Lots of hunky aliens.

It’s okay

Gonna be honest, I can’t get into the male narrator. I honestly have to push myself to listen to his chapters.

Plus, they totally glossed over the Gladiator’s history. A missed opportunity in my book.

I’m REALLY looking forward to the Assassin’s story. He’s my kind of wicked.

Wanted just a bit more

I love this series and I might just have to binge it on Kindle and come back to the audiobooks since there is such a delay getting these to Audible.

As for this book, I liked it but didn't love it. I was disappointed that we didn't get more background or personality for the Gladiator. He was sweet, but very one dimensional to me. His past was glossed over and it could've been used to build up the larger world building story arc that was shoved in at the end. It was a missed opportunity to me.

Aside from that, there was still a good bit of laugh out loud moments and sweet romance. Also I loved the introduction of the Assassin and I hope he stays rakish! So looking forward to his book!
