Publisher's summary

Ride a trail of blazing guns and two-fisted action in the Wild West as L. Ron Hubbard brings American history to life. Growing up in Montana provided him with the first-hand experience that added a tone of authenticity to his western tales. Listeners will feel the heat, taste the dust, and hear the thunder of horses’ hooves in these tales from a master storyteller of the genre.

This 5-audiobook collection includes 9 short stories for 10 hours of immersive entertainment. All audiobooks are unabridged, full-cast productions with cinematic quality sound effects that bring the stories and characters to vivid life.

Titles and short stories in the Western Short Stories Collection Vol 1 include: Branded Outlaw, Six-Gun Caballero, Under the Diehard Brand (with: “Hoss Tamer” and “The Ghost Town Gun-Ghost”), The Baron of Coyote River (with: “Reign of the Gila Monster”), Cattle King for a Day (with: “Come and Get It”).

You will love this collection because, as True West Magazine describes, they are “Westerns with the flair of a Louis L’Amour or Zane Grey.” And Booklist compares Mr. Hubbard to “notable western writers as Max Brand, T.T. Flynn, and Alan LeMay.”

Book Descriptions:

Branded Outlaw: Lee Weston’s father was murdered and his family ranch torched. Lee goes gunning for Harvey Dodge convinced he’s the killer. But it’s Lee who ends up shot and on the verge of death. Can a great loss lead to a great love? Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), David O’Donnell, Bob Caso, Jim Meskimen, and Tamra Meskimen.

Six-Gun Caballero: Michael Patrick Obañon is suddenly ousted from his spread by a band of criminals who falsely claim his ranch. Our caballero’s got to think fast to outwit his impostors when it’s clear that it will take far more than mere guns to win the day. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Jim Meskimen, Shaun Duke, and Tait Ruppert.

Under the Diehard Brand: Lee Thompson must step in to help his father regain control over gunslinging town troublemakers. But when he arrives, Lee finds that he may be forced to abandon the rule of law, leaving his father’s reputation as sheriff hanging in the balance. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Rob Paulsen, Phil Proctor, Corey Burton, and Jim Meskimen.

The Baron of Coyote River: Lance Gordon killed his father’s murderer, and now he’s on the run. So he heads for the one place no lawman will go—into the territory ruled by the feared Baron of Coyote River—the king of the cattle rustlers. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Martin Kove, Bruce Boxleitner, Bob Caso, Fred Tatasciore, Jim Meskimen, and Michael Yurchak.

Cattle King for a Day: Somebody has killed Chinook Shannon’s grandfather and wants to steal the family ranch. Chinook’s got exactly twenty-four hours to find the killer and become the Cattle King. Performed by: R.F. Daley (narrator), Corey Burton, Phil Proctor, Michael Yurchak, and Jim Meskimen.

Critic reviews

“Nonstop action with a Mark Twain twist.”—True West Magazine

“Bears comparison to such notable western writers as Max Brand, T.T. Flynn and Alan LeMay.”—Booklist

“While there’s no shortage of heroes and villains, the story remains blessedly free of stereotypes. Pure pulp adventure—in the best way!—from start to finish.”—Audiofile Magazine

Rip roaring fun!

This collection of western adventure stories were pure delight. The narration was like classic old time radio shows. I look forward to hearing them all.
