Happily ever...uh-oh!
Abby and her kid brother, Jonah, are just regular kids...until they find a magic mirror in their basement. The mirror is a portal that leads them into different fairy tales, from Snow White to Cinderella to The Little Mermaid. But in each story, nothing goes as planned, and it’s up to Abby to try to fix the happy endings - or maybe, sometimes, create better ones!
This beloved, best-selling series offers fresh, hilarious, and empowering twists on classic tales for today’s kids.

Wonderful book!

In these three books, the typical set up in each is that these kids from our world get transported to a fairy tale land and end up tampering with the story. They then end up going into an "Into the Woods" type of quest to try their best to fix their mistake, making friends and enemies along the way. Book 1 has them tampering with Snow White's life by preventing her from biting into the poison the apple. Book 2 has them meeting Cinderella and messing with her chances of properly fitting into the glass slipper. Book 3 has them in the world of The Little Mermaid, where all is good really, but they really WANT to change her ending.
Each Book is self contained for the most part, but I loved how the themes and story elements evolved with each book. And even as formulaic as the books may seem, the author is full of surprises.
A huge plus for me was that the Fairy Tale worlds they visited were based on the original texts of The Fairy Tales and not on other adaptations. It's this focus on the source material that really elevated the work for me, despite the author taking some interesting liberties (Book 3 depicts a kingdom that has all of it's royalty and citizens in swimsuits).
There's also seems to be a theme about perspective in that the way we percieve these Fairy Tales may not always be correct.
This is a very well done start to a current series. These first 3 books made me want to seek out the other books in this collection just to read the author's take on other classic fairy tales.
