About this listen

The world’s attention is focused on the historic plans of the U.S. and Iranian presidents to lay down their swords. But on the African continent, one man holds the power to obliterate the peace by unleashing terror and global chaos - and no one sees it coming.

Hiding behind the bloody madness of tribal warfare in the Horn of Africa, Iranian functionary-turned-fanatic Bani Aberhadji has achieved the impossible - single-handedly creating a vast, invisible network dedicated to the construction, delivery, and detonation of a nuclear nightmare. Only by chance are American agents now learning of its existence, and it may already be too late.

Born from the ashes of Dreamland, the covert strike force Whiplash is armed and ready to spring into action - led by Dreamland veterans Danny Freah and former ace pilot, now Washington insider, Breanna Stockard. But Aberhadji’s web of death is wide and well concealed...and the doomsday clock is ticking.

Return of Christopher Lane

Thank goodness Christopher Lane is back!!! He delivers a dynamic performance with great diversity in the many characters, male and female. His accents for multinational characters involve the listener in an engrossing performance while allowing easy recognition of the "speaker" by his unique voicing. Great job delivering always excellent stories with the appropriate drama.

Great Book

What did you love best about Whiplash?

I liked the character Danny in the early Dreamland books

Who was your favorite character and why?

Danny, hard charging and flawed

Any additional comments?

Didn't like the fact this book jumped into the future, since I was on book 10 of Dreamland, that was in 1998. Whiplash jumped to 2012 I believe, that was a surprised I didn't like.

Not his best work

Struggled to finish it. Story line was too drawn out and so so action. More like a spy novel with bad plot.

its ok

I myself didn't like the fact that it jumped ahead so many years from the previous story and you never found out what happened to the Dreamland people

Felt like I skipped a book

Poor continuity from previous novel. Also denouement was thin and felt inadequate for long novel. Lastly I found jumping from one location to another somewhat disconcerting.

NOT a Dramland Thriller!!!!

This book was a huge disappointment. I have read all the Dreamland books before this and everyone had me interested start to finish. This book literally made me fall asleep several times. Its set about 15 years after the events in Romania from the last book. The main characters we all know and love are now gone. Zen and Brianna are no longer pilots and have a kid. Dog is mentioned a couple times in passing but thats it. The book is focused, rather poorly, on a new Whiplash team led by Danny Freah, no Megafortress or ANY dreamland tech for that matter. Unfortunately I will not read the rest of the series and I am VERY disappointed by that.
