About this listen

Has anyone ever tried to throw a cash register at you? Have so many irritating and inane questions caused you to develop a poker face so strong that a sledge hammer wouldn’t break it? Have you seen every dark impulse man possesses? Do you know every demon by name? Yes? Then you’ve probably worked retail, and this book is for you.

No? Then you’ve probably never worked retail, and this book is for you.

These are the true stories of my ten years working retail. Often ugly, sometimes touching, always funny because it didn’t happen to you.

Truly a joy to listen to, the author has a wonderful lilt as she regales us of her experiences, good and bad, cringe worthy and character building. this book with particularly resonate with those of us who have participated in the customer service industry.

Not just a retail rant or hatefest but an honest expression of working retail in the USA

An everyday story about people and life, in retail yes (thought it would be SO boring) but Maggie makes a light and fun story out of shit we all know about. I really enjoyed it.

Humor at its best!

Anyone who has worked a retail job, especially in management, can relate. I laughed so hard at the similar experiences that my wife and I have both endured in our current and past jobs. I had to share the rolled change story with my wife, bc one of her employees did the same thing! I loved the book, the performance was good, and the sense of camaraderie is notable. I would absolutely recommend this to others.

Every retail worker can relate!

Disclaimer, some of the language used is not G rated. If you find that offensive Snowflake, you are going to miss an enjoyable main dish of truth bombs seasoned with Maggie’s sassy sauciness when it comes to dealing with the public in a retail setting. As a military veteran and 35+ year veteran of retail management in sales, her wordsmithing paints a wonderful picture of life in retail. I found this totally relatable and am glad she took the time to share her story. It is great to see “the other” side of things. Maggie has a good business acumen and it serves her well as she plows through the many winding situations she finds herself being a quasi unwilling participant. Bravo Maggie!

A refreshing irreverent look into retail management and sales

Her stories of working retail are all too relatable for anyone who has worked in the field.

Relatable.

Love the author and her narration! I bought the audible book after discovering Maggie on YouTube. She is intelligent and hilarious, and definitely my favorite person to follow now.

Great Story About Real Life

I discovered Margaret Weber when she showed up on my Youtube feed. After laughing my hat (!) off, I started following her like a stalker. Her ten years of retail has honed her ability to sum up some true fashion disasters, focused nearly exclusively on obscenely overpriced designer monstrosities. Her delivery of these observations are, in them selves, comedic gold. Her "discovery" of penis shaped items, crude double entendre and blatantly unconsidered dual meanings will make you think "This woman has a dirty mind!". And, yes, you would be right.

Hilarious

great story telling, even the occasional stumble in narration just makes it feel more true. just listen too it, if you're a customer you'll better understand what we deal with if you're an employee you'll identify with what she says

this is the truth of retail and just generally being a decent human

Light & entertaining. Nice break from my heavy genres. I follow Margaret on YouTube, her content is delightful, but her unique voice inticed me to find her book. I was not disappointed. If you've worked in retail, you'll find yourself shouting "you got that right girl". However, If you haven't had the retail experience please don't pass this up. You'll find Margaret's story to be an honest story of the person who at times we see in our own mirror. Her story is a story of basic human nature & the many demands the need for a pay check puts on us. Margaret " you got this one right girl".

The authors delightful narrative voice.

To the 💩head guy , who, pathetically went after her for her ample and glorious bosoom (sp? lol) on Insta....
Thank you. Because of her response to you I learned about this INCREDIBLY honest, amazing book and all her other accomplishments.
Setting aside that I could listen to her speak about whatever, for hours, the skill with which she recounts her stories is a gift.
Loved and lived every minute.

Perfect!!
