Publisher's summary
Has anyone ever tried to throw a cash register at you? Have so many irritating and inane questions caused you to develop a poker face so strong that a sledge hammer wouldn’t break it? Have you seen every dark impulse man possesses? Do you know every demon by name? Yes? Then you’ve probably worked retail, and this book is for you.
No? Then you’ve probably never worked retail, and this book is for you.
These are the true stories of my ten years working retail. Often ugly, sometimes touching, always funny because it didn’t happen to you.

Story
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Story
Alice's journey begins as all good journeys do: hitting on the sales guy at REI. After a tumultuous breakup, a quick career transition, family upheaval, and a sobriety journey that didn't fix her life quite as much as she expected it to, Alice decides that the only way to solve all her problems is to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. But as she begins preparing for the months-long quest, she realizes the answers she's seeking might not be on top of a snow-covered mountain. Especially since she just learned there was snow in California.

this is the truth of retail and just generally being a decent human
great story telling, even the occasional stumble in narration just makes it feel more true. just listen too it, if you're a customer you'll better understand what we deal with if you're an employee you'll identify with what she says

Humor at its best!
An everyday story about people and life, in retail yes (thought it would be SO boring) but Maggie makes a light and fun story out of shit we all know about. I really enjoyed it.

Every retail worker can relate!
Anyone who has worked a retail job, especially in management, can relate. I laughed so hard at the similar experiences that my wife and I have both endured in our current and past jobs. I had to share the rolled change story with my wife, bc one of her employees did the same thing! I loved the book, the performance was good, and the sense of camaraderie is notable. I would absolutely recommend this to others.

I absolutely love Maggie Weber!
I am a devoted fan of Refashioned Hippie, Maggie's YouTube channel. She is just as funny, self-effacing, and caring there as she appears to be in this book.
The book is hilarious and insightful when it comes to the retail and resale worlds. I loved it. I've always been considerate and friendly with customer service staff whenever I shop, but this book helps me understand why that's so important.
Maggie also shares about her experiences working food service in a family-run business. I personally identify with this because it's how I grew in my family's restaurant. If you have ever wondered about what goes on out of the customers' sight, here's a great example.
If you have not already, please GO SUBSCRIBE to MAGGIE'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL! Again, it's called Refashioned Hippie. She makes shorts and longer form streams about ridiculous designer fashion, and sells her own upsell fashion creations.
You will not be disappointed. I promise.

A refreshing irreverent look into retail management and sales
Disclaimer, some of the language used is not G rated. If you find that offensive Snowflake, you are going to miss an enjoyable main dish of truth bombs seasoned with Maggie’s sassy sauciness when it comes to dealing with the public in a retail setting. As a military veteran and 35+ year veteran of retail management in sales, her wordsmithing paints a wonderful picture of life in retail. I found this totally relatable and am glad she took the time to share her story. It is great to see “the other” side of things. Maggie has a good business acumen and it serves her well as she plows through the many winding situations she finds herself being a quasi unwilling participant. Bravo Maggie!
