After delivering the pearl, Finn and Aria thought life would return to normal.
But with the survival of the clans still in peril, they must continue their quest.
Can they find the next relic before the forces of evil?
Not everyone is who they appear to be, and time is running out....

This was a great follow up to Eternal Seas. It picks up where that book ended and continues on with the adventure and fast-paced action. Finn continues to learn more about his birth parents with the support of his adoptive family. Their adventures separate and reunite the heroes by twists and turns. Meanwhile, Aria gets a bit more of the spotlight as she begins to develop her own powers.
Pippin is turning out to be a little mystery. In the last book, I thought she was perhaps 10, same as Aria, but now I think she might be a bit older. Her ability to cook is both appreciated but also seen as a bit of an oddity. Why would she know how to to cook so well? Each time Finn or Aria try to pry into her past, she deflects. So I’m really curious to see what the author does with this character.
The rather nebulous villain, Waldred, gets teeth and claws in this book. There’s a demon involved. The stakes are higher, and continue to rise the more Aria and Finn learn. They are understandably frustrated by the hands-off approach of the clan elders that Cullen (Finn’s birth father) belongs to. The story, once again, ends on a cliffhanger. I look forward to book 3 becoming available on audio. 4.5/5 stars.
The Narration: Chris Devon did a good job with this book. The narrator for book 1 was Christopher Dickins and I’m not sure if these two are one and the same (even after relistening to the audio samples) or if Chris Devon did a masterful job of imitating the narration of Book 1. Either way, the narration is great. All the characters have unique voices, there’s a variety of accents used, and the female characters sound feminine. The name Messana (spelling?) is pronounced the same all the way through book 2 (though it was pronounced a few ways in book 1). There were no tech issues with the recording. 5/5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book. My opinions are 100% my own.
Great sequel to Book 1

But trouble strikes and mom is injured and dad can’t continue. It also seems that the elders have a secret regarding a demon that is now wrecking havoc on the world. At every turn it seems the kids are not going to make it. But friends arrive at strange times.
This was a great continuation of the story. You could read it as a standalone book but you get so much more from reading the series in order. Poor Pippin, I swear she means well but every time her choices seem to cause more trouble.
I love where this book is going and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Chris Devon does a fantastic job narrating this story. This series is wonderful for mid grade readers to adults.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to listen to and post an honest review.
