About this listen

Willow: Bride of Pennsylvania is second in the unprecedented 50-book American Mail-Order Brides series.

When a fire destroys the factory where Willow Miller works, her only choice for a secure future comes through becoming a mail-order bride to ex-Amish Amos Stoltzfus and moving to her ancestral home of Pennsylvania. Hope carries her forward into a new life, but guilt over her part in the fire that destroyed the factory threatens to hold her back.

Amos Stoltzfus is overjoyed to bring someone as sweet and special as Willow into his life to recapture a sense of family and love that he has been missing. But Amos has a past of his own and unresolved conflict with his neighbor and former best friend, Mark Lapp, that stands in the way of family, happiness, and the community around him.

Can Willow help resolve the pain and heal the breach that divides Amos from his community and his culture, or will her troubles stand in the way of her and Amos' happiness?

Heart felt listen

This was a good listen, it has some great reminders of how we should look at life and live it. It was a sweet heart felt romance that makes you smile. Has a little danger, and excitement. Getting to know someone you just met and married is never easy but throw in the mix a past that still holds you back from being what you want to be and being a better person doesn't help matters at all. It was nice to see how Hollie overcome the issues with her husbands past and help him and his family through some trying times. It has wonderful characters, with a nice plot. Is very enjoyable.

The narrator did an ok job, I didn't care for her character voice very much, her normal voice is pleasant. There were times when the character was talking that is sound like they were yawning when it should have been a different emotion. There were no background noise, no repeating of words and no volume changes. It was a clear clean audio. I didn't feel like she gave much emotion but it was an enjoyable listen.

Sweet 1890s Story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this little story of mail-order bride Willow finding not only her place but her family's place as well. The characters are well developed, and the conflict is well done. The amount of thematic imagery in the climactic scene blew me away and it really worked well with the story being told. As a very closed-door nearly inspire romance, it's not my usual, but I'd still recommend it as a well-written book with engaging characters and a great sense of place. The narration worked well and I appreciated the calm voice of the narrator.

Happy short romance

I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I love mail order bride books, something about marrying at first sight and ending with a happily every after does it for me. Willow, a woman who answers an ad in the Groom Gazette is off to meet her husband to be, Amos. She is running from a past where she thinks her clumsiness has resulted in a fire. She is attracted to Amos for several reason, but to me her biggest reason is his Amish background. Amos is a bachelor searching for someone to fill his lonely life. Willow's arrival causes all kinds of situations, from burning food to befriending those Amos longs to be friendly with. Will his past keep them from falling in love? You can only find out by listening.reading the book. While short, this book has a lot of character with a lot of characters. It is a well thought out storyline and is warm and fuzzy.

Linda Velwest is the perfect voice for a historical mail order bride book. She does a wonderful job.

A sweet story

I enjoyed this sweet story that starts off with Amish roots, moves away from them and then comes back to the Amish in the end. Willow and Amos must confront their pasts in order to make their marriage work. At times sweet, sometimes funny, Merry Farmer does a good job with the story line and characters. Linda Velwest does a very good job portraying the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone loving to read about the Amish life and needs a quick book to read or listen to.

Such a sweet happy romance.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book because it is really good. It has a great story line to me and the narrator did a great job.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Willow: Bride of Pennsylvania?

I was clinching the side of the chair as Willow held on tot he branch and Sara.

Any additional comments?

I was given this book for free in return for my honest opinion and honestly this book is good. I love beginning as they are writing the letters to each other but I know that the narrator also has alot to do with it because her voice to me goes so well with these characters. I recommend you try it if you are looking for a sweet feel good story where two people learn how to forgive.

This was a sweet story read by a sweet 'appropriate to character' voice. I enjoyed it very much. I will be looking up other books by Merry Farmer and other books read by Linda Velwest.

Wonderful Addition To Series

I really enjoy these wholesome Mail Order Bride books so very much. I'm not sure why, perhaps it is the nostalgia and the excitement of moving to a new place where no one knows you.

Willow has a guilty conscience because the factory in which she worked burn down and she thinks that it was something she had done. She cannot live with herself nor the thought of putting all of her friends and neighbors out of work, so she answers a mail order bride ad.

The ad is from Amos. In their correspondence she learns he was formerly an Amish community member – but no longer. She wonders why, but as a complete and sort of secluded stranger in this new land of her husband, she doesn't quite dare ask.

Well thought out in a bit deeper plot than in other novel that's novellas of this sort.

Linda Velwest is able to pull off all of the characters needed for this story, including young men and women as well as older folks & an occasional child. Very well done.

I mention that I enjoy these books in my first paragraph. I began to listen to them because, as with this book, *it was given to me in exchange for my review.

These "wholesome" stories are a nice break between the contemporary romance that I normally listen to. I have no reason in the world not to recommend this book to anyone.

*I was given this book in exchange for writing my thoughts, feelings & this review.
