Publisher's summary

Two teen wizards embark on an alien exchange program in this “hilarious and scary” adventure from the author of A Wizard Alone (Booklist).

Rest and relaxation—that’s what Nita Callahan thinks she’s going to get when she and her partner-wizard Kit Rodriguez go on a “cultural exchange” program. But nothing about wizardry—not even vacation—is ever quite that simple! Number one: They’re headed to a planet that may be just a bit too perfect. Number two: Nita’s sister Dairine must host a trio of alien guests here on Earth. Number three: The culture clashes that ensue could have devastating consequences—for both planets!

great

OK, so the series started over 20 years ago, somehow I managed to miss it. We only have two books available to us here, numbers 5 & 7. Since 5 sounds based around the central character's mom's death I decided to start with this one. The story is great, and the reader is great. Youthful wizards which may sound a little like Harry Potter, but it isn't. And there is a lot of humor. I really love the characters, both the central and new to volume characters. So much that I've gone back and bought the first 3 books. I'm hoping 4 & 6 will become available here before I have to do something drastic like buying them also. Even my 14 (almost 15) year old non reader loves these.

Imaginative

A remarkable storyteller with stories that can still entertain through the years to come. Highly recommended.

An interesting take on the idea of death being part of our lives

I continue to enjoy these stories. This particular one was very fascinating, particularly in the concept of what would’ve happened if society had rejected the choice of the dark one.

A Great Book

I loved this new twist on a "working holiday." Nita and Kit get to go to the beach and relax. While there they have to find out the reason they were sent, after all the 'powers' don't waste energy. Dairine stays home plays host to the exchange-wizards, a motley crew who are the key to a successful visit. All kinds of fun and wizardry ensue. I loved getting to know Dairine better. The only bad part about this book is that it ends. I can't wait till Book 8 hits Audible!

Hectic holiday

Crazy stuff can happen even on vacation, as is discovered by two groups of wizards participating in a sort of foreign exchange program. I love seeing more of Kit’s sister, Carmella. She’s a great character. And we meet some wizards of other species that, thankfully, will be sticking around for the next book.
