Publisher's summary

Bookstore owner Willa Chance has no idea that things in Mystic Notch are about to take a turn for the worse.

When a string of robberies escalates to murder, Willa is baffled by the behavior of her sister, the county sheriff. Normally the gung-ho lawwoman would be all over the case, but she seems more interested in doing her nails and picking out jazz music instead.

Willa has no choice but to take it upon herself to investigate. After all, her sister’s reputation is at stake, and a killer is running loose around town. Plus she has a secret weapon - she can see ghosts. Talking to the spirit of a murder victim usually helps solve the case, but not this time. This ghost seems reluctant to help Willa out. Even her boyfriend, neighboring county sheriff Eddie Striker, can’t get the spirit of the victim to give them a straight answer.

But things are even worse than they seem. Pandora and the cats of Mystic Notch know the real reason behind the crime goes a lot deeper than robbery or even murder. Someone has evil plans for Mystic Notch, and the cats need Willa’s help to stop them.

With Gus out of commission and the cats struggling to stop the town’s most notorious feline from gaining the upper hand, the future of Mystic Notch is in jeopardy. It’s going to take a lot of magic to set things right - are Willa and Pandora up for the task?

A cute story

The story is the type of story that is perfect to keep you company on the way home while dealing with traffic - not deep thought but an interesting enough to keep you entertained.

Cute next installment, overly dramatized reading

I enjoyed the book as far as the story and the plot. However, the reader is overly dramatized which makes snaps me out of the story. The reader should be intrusive and this reading has exaggerated tones, too much dragging on at the end of words. Nobody uses that many notes for one or two words. Her voice is beautiful and I think she could be more natural. I think the director needs to work on this because it ruins an otherwise beautiful voice.

Well worth the wait!

I do love the Mystic Notch books - especially the entire colony of cats watching over the humans and solving the mystery’s. The characters are great too - the Senior coffee group, the sisters and various others and the entire cast of cats.
I do hope there will be more Mystic Notch books to come.

If you haven’t read these yet I do encourage you to start from the beginning - you will learn about the various characters and their stories, and possibly fall in love with them as I have.

Original, suspenseful, fun stories about humans and cats.

I found them suspenseful and fun. I like the way the last book wrapped things up. I listened to the books on audible and heard all 8 books. I did find it a little disconcerting when they changed the actress reading the books for the last couple of books. I would’ve preferred that the same person that started reading the series finish all of them. I’d still highly recommend the series.

Short

I love Hollis and Leighann; but had I realized only 4.5 hrs I wouldn’t have used a credit! Very good however!

Narrator's voice drove me crazy...

Couldn't get into the story the voice was so infuriating. I love her books but stopped listening in seventeen minutes because of it...

Story is okay but narrator is not good

This one just falls a bit short. Story is okay but I really don’t feel much connection to the characters. Willa continues to accept that she can see and converse with ghosts, although that’s pretty minimal in this book, but is skeptical of magic and that her cat is anything more than just a pet. It just doesn’t make sense.
Worst part of this book though is the narrator. I’m not really sure if she’s trying to give characters accents or if she thinks awkwardly drawing out words makes the characters more interesting but it just doesn’t work and is grating to listen to. When multiple characters (especially female characters) are talking at once, including the cats, it is also really hard to keep track of who is speaking as there really isn’t any differentiation between the characters.
