Publisher's summary

Caleb Holt is the man to see for a good horse. Abuse an animal, and he'll teach the lesson that goes with it. When he lands on top of a woman in the midst of a brawl and snags a passionate kiss, he sparks a fire he never expected. But it doesn't take the cowboy long to learn a lesson of his own. Sometimes, love comes with a price.

Seamstress Laurel Adams is embarrassed by Caleb's stolen kiss. Though she is determined to raise her son alone, she wonders at the ease of falling for the handsome horseman. But when the husband who abandoned her returns, there is only one choice to make - the one that breaks her heart into tiny pieces.

Entertaining and Timeless

Kim Turner does a great job of taking us on a journey of the old west while keeping the storyline timeless. Who can resist a good book about a ruggedly handsome man of integrity and a strong independent woman that find love when they weren't looking for it . Timeless themes of fear, secrets, betrayal, courage, survival, passion, love, family and second chances keep you listening from beginning to end. Can't wait to listen to more audiobooks in The Wylder West Series.

Excellent Audiobook!

I love when authors write standalones that allow the listener to revisit characters in other books in the series. Kim Turner writes fantastic western stories. She skillfully develops her characters in a way that you will love them and a few not so much. Laurel is strong, caring, and loving. She has raised her three year old son by herself after her husband deserted them. Caleb is strong, hard working, compassionate, willing to let Laurel make her own decisions, loving, and immediately falls in love with Laurel and her son. Then Laurel's husband returns and their lives are turned upside down. I must admit that there are a few times when I teared up. Dawson McBride is one of my favorite narrators that gives distinctive voices to both male and female characters. He has a deep, warm, swooning voice for Caleb. I really could listen to him all day. I highly recommend this Audible book for your listening pleasure.

Choosing the right path

I’m back in Wylder, Wyoming the fictional town on the Western frontier. The year is 1778. Morals are questionable, and when a horseman sees one of his former horses being abused, he feels the necessity to step in. But that lands him in a fight where he accidentally lands on top of the local seamstress. What’s a man to do but steal a kiss?

Laurel is scandalized. But she’s busy raising her little boy while working as a seamstress. She makes beautiful gowns – for other ladies. She scrapes by because her no-good husband up and left her in the middle of the night in a mining camp. Without a word or any resources, she packed up her horse and took her son on a trek until they discovered Wylder. On other people’s graces, she survived until she landed the job, grateful she still had her mother’s old sewing machine. Laurel has made a good life for herself but she’s lonely. Caleb offers her companionship and protection and she’s lulled into a sense of security. When he offers marriage, she knows her love for him will grow as they spend time together.

Then that no-good husband returns with gifts and promises. He says he’ll settle into a homestead and give Laurel and their son the life he promised. What’s a woman to do? She is technically married and she did once love this man. I honestly didn’t know which way it was going to go. But a zebra can’t change his stripes. Or in this case, a prospector can’t cool his blood when he hears of a new strike. Always something better just beyond reach. Still, will her marriage vow keep her by the side of a restless man or will she be free to choose a man who offers love and stability? A man who treasures both she and her son.

I enjoy these stories and the narrator brings the right gravitas to them. Dawson McBride’s voice suits the outlaw wild west. I look forward to more books.

THIS BOOK HAS EVERYTHING!

I highly recommend buying this story! It is written by one of my favorite authors, Kim Turner, and is voiced by my favorite Dawson McBride! It's such a well-crafted story that has history, romance, heartbreak, danger and every other element that makes for a truly excellent book. I love the main characters as well as the secondary characters, and the story of each of their lives and how everything comes together at the end. And the ending is another nail biter that everyone will love. Dawson's voice is that perfect deep, smooth western sound, but he is truly believable speaking as a woman and a child. I honestly don't know how he does it. I also recommend all the Wylder books in the series.

I love cowboys!

Ms. Turner writes in a way that makes me believe she has a true love of her characters and must know a lot about horses. She seems to know these people and care about them as if they are her neighbors. Her books are always an easy satisfying read. I say read but I am old and get headaches when I read so I listen to her novels instead. Dawson McBride, the narrator, has the gravelly voice of a man that has spent his life working hard in a job he loves. He SOUNDS like a cowboy! I love a good cowboy story and this is the perfect cowboy romance, I can recommend this book to anyone that wants to spend a pleasant, relaxing evening with a good-looking cowboy!

They have Wylder Hearts

Laurel Adams came to Wylder, Wyoming with her best friend her horse, three-year-old son and a sewing machine. Caleb Holt is a local rancher who isn’t looking for a wife. Laurel just wants to take care of her son and try not to become the gossip of the town more than she already is. Caleb’s trying to work out his family dynamic and take care of his uncle. Laurel and Caleb’s unique meeting will keep them thinking about each other and then their Wylder Hearts just might take over.

Wylder Hearts is the second book in the Wylder, Wyoming series. This series brings together authors from the Wild Rose Press family to write a Multi-author series. This series revolves around the citizens in the booming western town that has growing pains. Wylder, Wyoming. The first four books bring new people to town and brings them together with the local citizens. These western historical romances will take you to 1878 Wyoming where these characters face danger, passion, the weather conditions, wild horses and their pasts to try and find true love. These stories can be read as a stand-alone book. So, welcome to Wylder, Wyoming where anything may happen, and love abounds. I very much enjoyed these stories. Take a trip to Wylder, Wyoming to fall in love with these wonderful characters and a unique town in the wild west. I’m anxiously awaiting my return to Wylder, Wyoming and finding the next group of citizens and maybe newcomers to fall in love with and who will be next to find true love.
