In a land haunted by the legacy of dead dragons, Rowen Locke has been many things: orphan, gravedigger, mercenary. All he ever wanted was to become a Knight of Crane and wield a kingsteel sword against the kind of grown horrors his childhood knows all too well. But that dream crumbled - replaced by a new nightmare. War is overrunning the realms, an unprecedented duel of desire and revenge, steel and sorcery. And for one disgraced man who would be a knight, in a world where no one is blameless, the time has come to decide which side he's on.

Would you listen to Wytchfire again? Why?
Yes. It has all the aspects I enjoy in a good book: action, likeable charters, magic, humor, and an interesting plot.Which character – as performed by Craig Beck – was your favorite?
I loved the lead character Rowen. He is just a nice guy he is humble, honest, and likeable.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Meyerhofer sets the ground work in this book. It's not the great conclusion or the masterpiece love story that falls in the middle. It's not the greatest book ever. But for openers, it's highly enjoyable.
My only complaint is with the main character. While well developed, likeable and forced to grow and go through tough times; his character really isn't that important to the story. He never makes any big speeches and his men really don't love him, nothing really happens because of him, and he doesn't have a love interest. If it's not for the important sword that only helps out once, he would be a sidekick who gets hero credit!
But that is really my only critic. Take the time and credit for this book. it's a very enjoyable story for your collection.
Very good, despite weak main character
