Publisher's summary

A vrisha arrives in Grace's underwater city.

He takes over one of the substations, forcing the workers out. At the whim of her job, Grace is unwillingly chosen to go below, maintain the station, and stay with the horned, devilish alien.

That is how she comes to encounter Xora. An alien born from a race of dominant fighters and fierce hunters. He is as terrifying as he is mysterious. While also commanding, stubborn, unrelenting . . . and oddly mesmerizing. As her fear slips away, other emotions begin to take hold. And Grace finds she wants to know more.

Xora just wants to get off the cold, watery world as quickly as possible. Yet, despite his indifference to humans, he finds his attention captured by Grace. Against his own nature, he allows her near him. He's just too . . . curious.

For Grace, working with Xora could be dangerous. But when he desires her help on a secret mission, Grace can't refuse. Even if it could mean putting her job and life (and heart) at risk.

For Xora, Grace's help could be his best chance at getting home. Assuming he can keep his growing feelings for the bold woman from making him lose sight of why he's on Oceanus in the first place.

Contains mature themes.

Pretty good.

Pretty good. Some of the drama is a bit silly, but the story's still enjoyable.

I love Olivia Riley and Penelope Ann Rose!

I enjoyed reading this book when it first came out and I loved listening to the story while driving, cooking and doing chores around the house. does is a Vrisha warrior on a mission to redeem himself with the queens of his planet.
on his mission he meets Grace and she challenges everything he believes about humans. They find what they need in each other but their path is not smooth and danger lurks around every corner. its an excellent story. Penelope Ann Rose did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. her voice was beautiful and she did a wonderful job when speaking as both Xora and then Grace. I can't wait to listen to the other books in this series!💖🔥💖🔥💖

Betrayed and Beloved

I loved it! I really liked both Grace and Xora. He was strong and loyal even though he kind of stumbled there at the end. The friendship they started was blessed to end up as so much more! I knew that Bree was a trouble maker. Grr!

Pretty Cute!

I thoughts this was cute and I liked the relationship and how it developed. The setting was also super unique and well done, even if I would be terrified to go that deep in an ocean but that's certainly more a me thing.

It's a cute and fun read :)

An engaging listen from start to finish!

Going into a sci-fi romance, I was unsure of what to expect.

Getting this out of the way now: I started and finished in a single sitting, completely engaged and invested.

Though a fairly short story at only over 8 hours, Olivia Riley packs a LOT in that time frame. With two main characters to focus on, it feels like enough time is dedicated to both as well as the relationship that builds between them. Nothing felt overly rushed and the dynamic between the two primary characters feels natural and organic.

The romance grows quickly but never feels rushed or forced, and the scenes are tasteful while fairly brief. The narrator does a good job of portraying the emotions of the characters and what they are experiencing.

Some readers may find this story simplistic and straight-forward, but I don't believe that is a bad thing. It accomplishes what it wants to do and never feels like you are struggling through filler throughout the story.

The second half truly shines as not only do you become increasingly invested in the characters, but also the underlying thread of conspiracy that takes place near the climax. The final chapters had me listening with anticipation and a continued eagerness to how it would all resolve, and I can certainly say I was not disappointed.

Strongly recommend giving this a listen for an engaging, heart-warming, affectionate, and fun story that won't feel like too strong of a time commitment. Definitely worth it.

Another Different PNR

The storyline was different from other books in this genre; I’ve noticed this with new PNR books lately. It is refreshing to listen to PNR books with a different storyline. The narrator did a great job with characters; does a good job with male and female characters. Waiting for the next book in series to release.

Adventurous romance

This was a very good adventure that kept me engaged from beginning to end. I didn’t realize it right away, but there were some vague references to book 1 of Ms. Riley’s Dark World Mates series. It makes me want to go back and re-read that book. But, like I said, the references were vague which does not add or take away from this book. Also, even though there was some erotica, it wasn’t so much so that it just literally consumed the book. It was the kind of romance that I enjoy. Ms. Rose’s performance added to the story. I look forward to the next book in the series.
