A brilliant satire on university life, I laughed silently throughout this unique offering. Brava! to Alexander McCall Smith for daring to press so many buttons (with his usual sensitivity) and Brava! to Paul Hecht for the perfect tone of voice throughout. How challenging it must be to get the tone just right so that tears were streaming down my face. Thank you!! That reminds me, I need to relocate my bathroom to the other side of the house...after I inform you on how things are going at my aunt's nursing home...🤣

I love this series and I hope Alexander McCall Smith will write more. It’s a charming yet insightful tale about human nature and, as always, very entertaining.

After Unusual Uses for Olive Oil, I wasn't sure if the series had any more left to explore. The return after 13 glorious years brings the series raring back. Still slower than the first three books, it explores the internal workings of the Institute in a marvelous way.
