About this listen

I'd been prepared to die on this planet . . . but now I have something to live for.

Zecri: I've waited many cycles to carry out my rescue mission for a fellow warrior. But when I re-enter the misery I escaped to free him, I get more than I bargained for. Much more. A human female who's as scarred as I am, and who's willing to risk her life for the most precious thing on this desert planet.

Sybil: This place absolutely sucks, and I've been in some pretty terrible places. I would have run myself through with one of my captor's blades long ago if it wasn't for this innocent creature who's dependent on me. I won't let her down. I can't. But I'm only a human on a planet full of monsters.

Until I meet the most deadly monster of them all. He's scarred and wears an emotionless mask, but I can see the simmering rage and revenge underneath it all. I also see a soul needs me as much as I need him. But first, we have to get free. Maybe together . . . we can be heroes.

Contains mature themes.

I have loved all the books in this series as well as the others. These books have you feeling for the characters who have been through so much. The plot of each story is always different. Mavens books are a one click for me always.

the book was awesome but, the narrators were not. they should have used the narrators from the fist series. they mispronounced alot of words. that leads me to believe they didn't listen to the first series on audio to learn how to pronounce some of the words and names.

my favorite book

The heroine: Sybil - she was a Human female had been on the planet of Vixlicin for nearly a decade. Grayven had always taught her never to trust anyone. Not that she would, after being abducted from Earth, and sold as a slave. She takes care of Drixonian/Human hybrid, a five-cycle-old female child named Riven and she worries about how she will protect Riven when she grows up. For the past eight years she has been owned by a Gatrix name Kilzer, an insect-like species. He goes to a pleasure house every ten cycles since his species isn’t compatible with humans, and is taking Sybil and Riven along this time.

The Hero: Zecri - he was a Drixonian that had been experimented on by the Uldani, another race of alien that were trying to create super soldiers for themselves. Zecri was enslaved in a pleasure palace after the Uldani determined the experiments failed, Rexor was sold to the owners of a Gladiators that fought in an arena, Mikko who was thrown in the pit, which was a prison, and Feniz was made to work in the mines. After Rexor escaped and came for his fellow stolen, they all wanted to get revenge on those who caused their horrific existences. The other three did that for some time with Zecri’s help but have since all found their fated mates and moved back to their home planet of Corin.

The Story: Zecri had his own mission he wanted to carry out after helping all his friends and he wanted to do that alone; he also never planned to find a mate after all his time as a slave in a pleasure palace. He had been tortured and scarred, both physically and emotionally. Though he planned to go back, to rescue his fellow Drixonian, a young warrior named Grayven who had been sold before Zecri escaped. What he doesn’t expect to find at the pleasure palace is a human female who is fragile, yet is strong and protective as well, but what he is really surprised to see is just who Sybil is protecting.

This setup has some serious weight behind it—layered emotional depth, high stakes, and a richly developed world. Zecri’s journey from experimentation to enslavement and eventual rebellion is powerful, and Sybil’s fierce protectiveness over Riven adds an emotional anchor that could shape the entire story. The way their paths intersect at the pleasure palace promises an intense, gripping moment.

What stands out is the way the author balances their individual trauma with their resolve—not just victims of their circumstances, but fighters carving their own destinies. There’s also a sharp contrast between Sybil’s learned distrust and Zecri’s hardened resistance to emotional connections, making their eventual relationship arc ripe for development.

This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by Oliver Highpoint and Rachel Woods. Oliver Highpoint has a clear, pleasant voice. Though he isn’t one of my favorite male narrators, he is very good. Rachel Woods also has a decent voice, though there is something about it that grates on my nerves a bit, but not enough to make me stop listening and I got used to it after a while.

The stolen warriors are all home now!
