  • Cancer the Great Revealer
    Oct 28 2024

“I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this episode. If there’s a particular topic or person you’d like me to invite, feel free to share—I’m all about spreading the word!”

Diane Gilman was an American clothing designer and shopping channel television personality on HSN, where she is known as the "Jean Queen". She built a $150 million jeans empire. She began specializing in jeans after noticing the denim industry's void in catering to baby boomer women like herself.

In 2013, Diane authored a book called Good Jeans: 10 Simple Truths about Feeling Great, Staying Sexy, & Aging Agelessly. While her book is largely biographical in nature, she uses her story to encourage and inspire women to go after their dreams and regain a greater sense of self-entitlement that may have been withered by societal expectations and pressures placed upon women past a certain age.

In 2017 she was told she had Stage Three Breast Cancer.
Diane Gilman "Cancer is a great leveler and a great revealer. Cancer doesn’t care if you’re wealthy, cancer doesn’t care if you’re beautiful, cancer doesn’t care if you live in a penthouse on Fifth Avenue. And by the time I came out of my stage three diagnosis, I saw life differently—and I became much more grateful for it.

Renne Rodrigues discusses how to win child custody battles.
Most of us feel paralyzed when we have to go to court for child custody. There is so much we don’t know that we want to know right away, to try to get control of our new situation: There is so much we don’t know that we want to know right away, to try to get control of our new situation:

How long will the custody case go on?

How much money is this going to cost?

Will the kids be negatively affected by this custody battle?

It makes sense that it’s hard. There is a lot to think about.

    It’s COSTLY.

    It’s RISKY.

    It’s ANXIETY-PROVOKING.

“I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this episode. If there’s a particular topic or person you’d like me to invite, feel free to share—I’m all about spreading the word!”

Season Three is upon us. I can't believe it. So here is a taste of why this show exists and will continue to exist as long as I have breath in my body. In our lives functional changes alter activity of certain brain regions. These include overproduction of stress hormones in childhood that can wear down the immune system and lead to depletion by adulthood of hormones necessary tolerate and recover from stressful situations encountered in daily life. What followed my dysfunctional childhood were two marriages to abusive toxic men and self-medicating with alcohol and drugs. I experienced domestic violence from 1968 to 1986. The victims of domestic violence can develop PTSD, General Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorders. Long-term domestic violence by a partner reduces self-esteem, creates fear and self-loathing. Often those with complex trauma histories walk through the world feeling shameful, broken, irreparably damaged, holding a deep sense of unworthiness and incompetence. I know now that what I experienced was 'cosmic amnesia", a false sense of self. Recovering from my trauma as taken many years of intensive counseling and inpatient programs. I can report that the woman I am today is vastly different from the woman I was in young adulthood. Depression and anxiety still rear their ugly heads, but I have regained my self-esteem and self-confidence.
