How do you see work? A nuisance? A necessity? How does God want us to see work? Leigh Richmond shows us God's view of work through three lenses. From creation we see God always intended us to work - there was work in Eden. Through redemption we do all our work for the Lord. Through mission, we understand that work is part of God's plan to bring wellbeing and wholeness to the places where we live. Every gift and skill we have positions us to serve others to point them to Christ. Leigh encourages us with a creed from Sheridan Voysey's book "The Making of Us", and shares his own testimony of coming to a healthy and Christ-centred relationship to his own work.

God is faithful. He is generous, and His gospel is powerful. Lisa Lenton shares her story of God's faithfulness to her in the face of a major health challenge. Pastor Andy Lenton shares wisdom and encouragement from Jesus's parables about seeds. He takes us to the scene where Jesus speaks from the natural amphitheatre of a lake. We see the generosity of God, sharing His word even where it will not immediately be received, and its power to bring a harvest despite resistance. Pastor Steve shares from two Psalms, occasioned by two contrasting seasons in the life of king David. It's probably easy to sing with the victory of Psalm 21, but what do we do in the season of trial and lamentation? From Psalm 13 we learn that it’s OK to ask God “Why?” and “How long?”. We learn how to use the words of the Psalms to lament, confident that God’s Spirit works in us with and through these words. Alone with Jesus, and with trusted friends we can find a safe place to express our feelings, to find a truth we can rejoice in, and to recall a testimony from which we draw hope. Because of Jesus, we have a song on any and every season!

Communion

Pastor Steve takes us back to when Jesus introduces the new covenant meal that we call communion. Sharing from the Gospels and Paul’s writings, Pastor Steve shows how this celebration looks back to Jesus and the physical reality of His passion. In the bread and wine Jesus meets us in the present - His risen presence can be encountered in a special way. And we look to the future - to the time when Jesus will “return in glory and splendour” and transform our physical bodies into a new creation body like his own.
