Episode 5: Who’s Checking on You? Navigating Accountability Through Community & Professional Groups

Let’s be honest—sometimes being a multi-hyphenate feels like you’re flying solo at all times, wearing every hat, and hoping nothing drops. But here’s the truth: you can’t hold yourself accountable to everything, all the time, all by yourself.

In this episode of Confessions of a Multi-Hyphenate, we’re diving into the power of community and accountability—why it matters, how it helps, and what it actually looks like when done right. Because guess what? You don’t need to do it all alone.

5 practical tips for navigating accountability and finding your people:

    1. Find your accountability type
    2. Join a community that fits your vibe
    3. Be honest about what you need
    4. Give what you want to receive
    5. Make it fun, not forceful

Benefits of Accountability Groups from Shalyce Tyson @shalycetyson -

“When I gather with my accountability group, I get the fuel, the ideas and the motivation to keep going - personally and professionally. We laugh. We hype each other up. We share tips. We are transparent. We congratulate one another. And we hold each other accountable to achieving the goals we share within the group. It's support in action and we all need and desire support. So the biggest benefit for me is knowing I have people in my corner who I can reach out to, and then being able to be a source of support and accountability for them, too. - Shalyce Tyson @shalycetyson

This episode is your reminder that real growth requires real accountability. Let’s stop pretending we’ve got it all handled and start building the kind of support systems that help us grow—on purpose.

    Multi-Hyphenate Move of the Week:
    Try the Pomodoro Technique!

The Pomodoro Technique is a simple, time-management method designed to improve focus and productivity by working in short, timed intervals with regular breaks.

    How It Works:

    • Choose a task you want to work on.
    • Set a timer for 25 minutes — this is called one “Pomodoro.” (15 and 20 minute segments are also effective)
    • Work on the task without interruptions until the timer goes off.
    • Take a short 5-minute break. Stretch, grab a snack, or walk around.
    • Repeat the cycle. After completing four Pomodoros, take a longer break (15–30 minutes) to recharge.

If you’re tired of spinning your wheels or trying to “do it all” with no plan, this episode will help you breathe, reset, and move forward with intention. Let’s get into it!

✅ NOW – What needs your attention immediately (top priorities, deadlines, urgent projects).
