    This week we have Jaz L' Amy who works in public relations!


    Jaz works as a Junior Publicist for The Noise Cartel - a full service PR agency providing print, online, and TV promotions for artist and labels in the rock and alternative world. Jaz told us about how she began her journey in the music industry at University, studying music journalism, and how she has been working as freelance journalist for Distorted Sound Magazine, and Emerging Rock Bands.


    Jaz also discussed the ups and downs of her amazing career so far, sharing prejudices she has faced as a woman working in music, but also shared some stories of renowned bands she has gotten to meet and work with- explaining how all of these experiences have built her up to be the confident and savvy music business professional that she is today.

    On today's episode we have live events promoter Lucy! Lucy recently graduated with a degree in music promotion, and during her time at University founded the live events company WhatsernameUK. Whatsername is a company dedicated to creating safe spaces for women in the music industry to share stories highlighting the issues faced in a male dominated industry. Starting as a magazine, Whatshername have branched out and hosted events featuring amazing guest talkers, live music performances and showcasing their brilliant merchandise.


    We couldn’t think of a more fitting company to have on our podcast, and it was a great pleasure talking to Lucy today about the work she has done with Whatshername since graduating, and what plans they have for the future!

    This week we have Publisher Relationship Manager, Dominika from PRS for Music. PRS are a British copyright collective, and to briefly explain they are responsible for ensuring artists are correctly paid whenever their song is played. Music royalties are notoriously complicated, so it is essential that roles such as Dominika’s exist in the industry! 


    In this episode Dominika told us how her journey into the music industry began and where she is now. We also spoke about what working at PRS is like, and whether music industry companies in general have become more aware of gender issues within the workplace.
