     Why 4-7-8 Breathing?

       “4-7-8 breathing” has been proven to have real health benefits. The “4-7-8” technique forces the mind to focus on regulating the breath, rather than dwelling on stressful thoughts.    Studies have shown that regular practice of this technique can relieve stress and even help with sleep problems that result from anxiety or insomnia.  The 4-7-8 technique, which involves holding the breath for four seconds, exhaling for seven seconds and then holding your breath again for eight seconds, forces the mind to focus on regulating the breath. This produces a state of deep relaxation.

      Why Binaural Beats?

      Binaural beats are sounds that result from two slightly different tones being heard through each ear. The brain processes the difference between the two tones, creating a third tone.   For example, if you are listening to sounds at 132 Hz in your left ear and 128 Hz in your right, you will hear a sound at 4 Hz (in addition to the two tones given to each ear).  When you listen to binaural beats, your brain wave activity will synchronize with the frequency of the beat. This is called the frequency-following effect. You can use this phenomenon to entrain your mind to reach a certain mental state  In the example the binaural beat is in the 4Hz frequency. This frequency is in the delta range.

      Binaural beats in the delta range (1 to 4 Hz) have been linked to deep sleep and relaxation. 

     In the theta range (4 to 8 Hz) are associated with REM sleep, reduced anxiety, relaxation and meditation. 

     Alpha frequencies (8 to 13 Hz) increase relaxation, positivity and decrease anxiety. 

     Beta frequencies (14 to 30 Hz) help with concentration and alertness while increasing memory.  

    Binaural beats are a great way to naturally relax, relieve stress and has led to a new way to relieve stress and effectively improve your focus.
