In this episode we welcome Josh Miller who is a Sound Engineer/Recording Studio Engineer/Room Design Expert/DJ/Restaurant Owner. We discuss how sound, music, acoustics, and space all work together to create the perfect vibe. We also include the single most important aspect of that vibe... you.

We talk about how you can implement some techniques in your space to create your perfect vibe, one that allows people to talk, listen, and enjoy the music. And it's not as easy as one may think...

Idioms. What's the big deal and why are they a part of our everyday language? It's likely to make sense of a situation or a concept. They are in fact, very useful. They are also way over used in certain settings, to the point of annoyance and even detriment. So what can we do about it?

In this episode, we discuss idioms, metaphors, jargon, similes. We dive right into... er, sorry, we begin this episode with a segment that may make many of you uncomfortable, and for this we apologize. It did the same to us, but we took the bull by the... eh hem, we, well we just took control and worked through it.

We encourage you to contact us if you suffer from idiom-overuse like Brandt and I do. Together, we can work through this.

Welcome to our first "sprint" episode!

Whats is a sprint episode you ask? One of us does not know the topic prior to recording and we barely touch it post-record. Also, Brandt is annoying. Ok, that's a bit much... the sounds Brandt makes are sometimes really annoying and drive me crazy. The chewing, the knife and fork on the plate, the crunching of chips, etc. are just too much sometimes, especially when we are recording a podcast.

Welcome to the world of misophonia - the strong negative emotional and physical reaction to sounds made by others. In this episode, we experience in real time the thrills of misophonia. I hope you enjoy it as much as I didn't!

We all want to feel heard. When it happens it feels good, solves problems, and productivity increases. However, when we don't, we feel angry, walk away, or even riot. In this episode, we dive into a 2023 study about feeling heard, the different components, and how do we use this information to get better at it.

Welcome to the Feeling Heard Scale (FHS). This is not about disagreement, thats ok (generally speaking). This is about respect, understanding, and validation. Oh, and the goal is... reaching common ground.

Eavesdropping. Eaves dropping. Dropping in under the eaves. Intentionally listening in on other peoples conversation.

Overhearing. Over hearing. Hearing over space. Accidentally hearing what other people are talking about.

Is one ok and one not? But what if it's your job? What if you were just trying to be nice? We explore it all as we kick off season 3!

The creation of the phone, aka the cell phone, was a really, really big deal. It allowed anyone to communicate from wherever, whenever they wanted. Listening to a friend or a family member was limitless for the first time ever. Yet today, the evolution of the phone has created a dramatic shift in listening. With all of the apps, games, and information, it can be a tremendous distraction. It has become a great barrier to listening. So what can we do remove that barrier? Take a listen.
