• Episode 145: #MasterDebater #SwiftWork #Kamalot
    Sep 12 2024

Cathy and Troy are back and Troy is broadcasting from Spain, as Kamala Harris makes Swift work of Donald Trump in the 2nd presidential debate. We break down the highlights and lowlights and breathe a sigh of relief to once again have a candidate that can form a coherent sentence. She looked damn Presidential too.

Then Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala, rounding out one of the worst possible nights for Donald Trump.

And we reflect on the solemn anniversary of 9/11, and the infuriating tie to January 6th, as Trump supporters achieved what Al Qaeda never could: an attack on the U.S. capitol.

    Aug 13 2024

Cathy and Troy break down Trump's complete collapse since the ascension of Kamala Harris to Democratic nominee. Trump's handlers have officially lost control as they beg him to stay on message. Trump gives bizarre press conferences, racist conspiracy-laden rallies, and most recently a disastrous appearance on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk, where Trump slurred his words for over an hour.

Did he lose his dentures? Or is the once future American dictator in the middle of a complete free-fall of physical and mental health?

Meanwhile Kamala Harris and Tim Walz draw massive crowds and bring enthusiasm not seen since another historic presidential candidacy in 2008.

And we are joined by Paul Cox, a union leader from central Florida, to talk Florida politics, the realities of being a unionized worker in a "right-to-work" state, the progressive pro-union politics of Harris and Walz, and how unions are on the front lines mobilizing to stop the ultimate billionaire stooge, anti-worker scab Donald Trump from returning to the White House.

    Aug 7 2024

Cathy and Troy discuss the dark horse pick of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be Kamala Harris' running mate. As usual, Cathy called it. Walz is a midwestern governor so charming he even got AOC and Joe Manchin to agree he was a great pick.

Progressive on policy, Walz was the first governor to codify abortion rights after the fall of Roe. He instituted a free school lunch program in Minnesota, along with paid family leave, capped insulin costs, and expanded backround checks and red flag laws for guns sales. As a congressman, he even donated everything he received from the NRA to charity after the Parkland school shooting.

The ticket is set. Trump needs to be shitting his pants...oh wait.

Plus we discuss the other contenders including popular Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro who was the favorite, and why at the end of the day Walz was the best option.

Meanwhile Trump tells a room full of black people that Kamala Harris isn't black.

So, that's how the race is going.

  • Episode 141: #BidenFarewell #Kamalot #NotGoingBack #OneLastTime
    Jul 25 2024

Cathy and Troy break down the historic news that President Joe Biden will not be seeking re-election, passing the torch to the next generation by endorsing Kamala Harris for President.

Biden will now go down in history as one of the greatest presidents for his selfless move to save democracy when a path to beating Donald Trump became more and more unclear.

Biden gives a mini farewell address that has George Washington farewell vibes. He can now retire into elder statesman status, and become the most senior figure in the Democratic Party. He also can just be President for the next few months without having to run for President, ending one of the most effective presidential terms in history.

Now the focus shifts to Harris, who would be the first female and female person of color president in American history. As Trump and the GOP shit all over themselves trying to hit Harris with race and gender attacks, Harris shines in massive early fundraising and messaging as she wins support of all her rivals and of the Democratic base.

And Cathy deep dives the potential Harris vice presidential pick as we explore the extradinary talent waiting on the bench for the Democrats. Who will be the vice president to the first woman president in history? Let us know your thoughts.

    Jul 16 2024

Cathy and Troy discuss the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and the politics of violence and conspiracy.

Trump pledges unity, then defines unity as American loyalty to Trumpism, and his own absolute immunity.

Then he chooses J.D. Vance to be his vice president, a MAGA extremist who opposes no-fault divorce, supports a national abortion ban, and who is even more pro-Russia than Trump.

Judge Aileen Cannon throws out Trump's Mar-a-Lago stolen documents case in an obvious play to be the next Trump Supreme Court nomination.

And Cathy deep dives the history of Presidential assassinations and attempts, from Andrew Jackson to Donald Trump.

    Jul 10 2024

Cathy and Troy continue our discussion of Biden potentially stepping down from the nomination and handing it off to Kamala Harris. Many more donors and key players have chimed in, including Nancy Pelosi and George Clooney, the latter signifying that Biden may have lost Hollywood, a key source of deep-pocketed donors that Democrats need to compete.

While the choice remains with Biden, and we support the Democratic nominee against Trump whomever it may be, the time is running out to make a decision.

Meanwhile, Kevin Roberts of the Heritage Foundation wants us all to know that fascism is coming to the United States in a "bloodless revolution" and there isn't a God damn thing we can do about it.

AOC files impeachment articles against Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito.

The right-wing gets donkey punched in the UK and French elections. Could this be a bellwhether for the U.S. in the fall?

And Cathy deep dives how elections work in these nations with a focus on the different parties and processes, and the lessons and warnings we can take away from what just happened across the pond.

  • Episode 138: #PresidentialSwap #KamalaAndACracker #ImmunityResponse
    Jul 3 2024

Cathy and Troy break down the disastrous debate performance from Joe Biden last week, and discuss the growing calls for him to step into elder statesman mode and back another candidate. Biden has accomplished so much in four years. How will the next few weeks affect his legacy?

Is it now time for Kamala Harris to step up and be the first woman of color President in history? What will take to make that happen, and can she beat back the onslaught of fascism?

And the Supreme Court rolls out the red carpet to make Donald Trump a king by declaring that Presidents cannot be prosecuted for official acts. This means if Trump wins he will be above the law, with a fundamentalist religious cult Supreme Court that has positioned itself to remove the independence of the judiciary.

And Cathy deep dives how we got here: tracing the history of Presidential immunity back to Nixon, when it was just a theory, to Clinton, where the justices declared that Presidents can be sued, to Trump as dictator in waiting.
