TE Zach Heins brings excellent toughness and run blocking to the table and his Jim Harbaugh brand of football will earn him a spot on the roster. Dan and David discuss which UDFAs they think have the best shot of making the team like Clemson Safety Jaylin Phillips. After Derwin James and Alohi Gilman the Chargers safety depth is questionable and Phillips ability to make plays against the run and the pass will give him a shot. Undrafted guard Karsen Barnhart was a key cog in the Michigan Wolverines National Title run under Jim Harbaugh, and has a chance to earn a reserve line spot with Los Angeles.

Many familiar faces are fighting for their jobs this year heading into training camp, and tight end Donald Parham Jr. could end up on the outside looking in when the dust settles. Parham has shown flashes as a pass catcher, but his run blocking inability may not be a fit in the Jim Harbaugh era. Dan and David talk about the biggest names for the Chargers that are on the roster bubble with training camp beginning like rookie Brenden Rice. The Los Angeles receiver room has a ton of players, and Rice isn't a lock to make the roster but his all-around game should earn him a spot. Cornelius Johnson was also just drafted, but will likely have to outplay Rice to earn his spot. Another name in trouble is former third round pick JT Woods. Things haven't clicked two seasons in, and he will have to have a great camp to ensure he gets another chance.

Brandon Aiyuk has been in a monster for the 49ers during their dominant run in recent years, and now he wants out of San Francisco. If the Chargers traded for the star receiver they would be getting a cornerstone offensive player that would elevate the level of the young pass catchers around him. Dan and David discuss why they think Los Angeles should see if they could make a trade happen, and what it would likely cost. Another way the Chargers could boost their roster is by adding one if the top flight free agents available like Stephon Gilmore. The team has major question marks at cornerback and Gilmore would come in as the best guy right away and give DC Jesse Minter more to work with. Justin Simmons is another big name still on the market, but the chances the Charger sign another star softly are slim.
