Joshua Palmer waited in the shadows of Chargers greats Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but in 2024 he will finally get his chance to shine. Palmer has better chemistry with Justin Herbert than the rest of the team combined, and he is ready to take the next step and lead this young receiving corps. Dan and David get into their breakout candidates for the 2024 season and discuss why they are starting to drink the Quentin Johnston Kool Aid again. On the defensive side, Daiyan Henley is ready for his first starting opportunity and combined with new LB coach Na'Vorro Bowman has a chance to be a star. The Chargers also may have a CB1 for this season the way that Kristian Fulton played during training camp. If Fulton can breakout this season, new DC Jesse Minter will have a great chance to turn this defense around. The Chargers are not satisfied with the roster after cutdown day and Joe Hortiz made a huge move to upgrade at backup QB trading for Taylor Heinicke. The former Falcon brings valuable starting experience and has won games and fills a major roster question mark after Easton Stick's poor offseason. The roster is set and the Chargers did some roster gymnastics to help them keep some players who deserved a spot like Tony Jefferson. Both JT Woods and Jefferson made the team giving them a playmaker with experience at safety while giving a young player a chance at a new spot. Dan and David react to the Charger initial 53-man roster including the team doing what they hoped; keep Simi Fehoko and Brenden Rice. Not many had Los Angeles keeping 7 receivers but both were important to keep around for for different reasons. One of the biggest surprises was Donald Parham Jr. missing the cut after being TE2 last year, leading to some questions about red zone weapons. The Chargers will now hit up the waiver wire and continue to try to improve the team and the priority should be finding Justin Herbert a new quarterback.

This is Jim Harbaugh’s team now, and as the Chargers cut their roster down to 53 we will see what this new regime values. The toughest decision is at wide receiver between Simi Fehoko and Brenden Rice, but Dan and David find a way to keep both on the team.
