On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Alex Krutchik(@AlexKrutchikFOF) of Lemon City Live to discuss everything that went on this weekend in the Florida Panthers' trip in New York. Before they took the ice on Long Island, they along with the Stanley Cup took a trip to West Point. Panthers Owner Vinnie Viola, Matthew Caldwell and other West Point Alumni fulfilled their promise of taking it back to a place that shaped them to share along with the other Army Cadets on their off day. The Panthers continued their road trip on Long Island Saturday night where they went from being down three to scoring six unanswered, where Matthew Tkachuk got his first two goals of the season, and Mackie Samoskevich got his first NHL goal just minutes after he had a chance that rang off the post. The Newtown Connecticut native had family make the two-hour drive to Long Island to see him play, and he delivered. Spencer Knight (Connecticut native) got the secondary assist on the play and was really steady in net after the Panthers gave up three goals in the first 12 minutes. Barkov looks to be one step closer to coming back, and with how the lines have been formed, we may see Samoskevich play alongside Barkov on Monday night. Over the weekend, the Panthers signed 2024 6th round pick Hunter St. Martin to a three year entry-level deal after having an impressive rookie showcase and preseason before heading back to junior hockey in Medicine Hat. Florida goes into Buffalo for the second time in as many weeks hoping to extend their road winning streak to five, which the Panthers had a bad taste in their mouth after their last visit to Western New York.
