  • Ep 67: Bonjour bitch
    Nov 18 2024

Did you ask for an unexpected special episode? I think you did!! Justine Lemaire is our special guest this week, hailing from Paris to bring us the peak of French music drama and just... french in general. She talks about Bertrand Contat and the scandals surrounding his personal life in the early 2000s and 2010s. There’s no better time to bring back the concept of public shame than in a room with your good friends and your childhood pet hamster. Humiliation comes easy to us, but that’s kinda the point (so fun so French)-- Merci!!

  • Ep 66: Haunted rocks
    Oct 31 2024

One last spooky solo story to make you wish you didn’t press play, or quite possibly the best haunted tale you have yet to hear!! Clarisse brings the last of our Halloween stories this year with a doozy: the most haunted music venue in America... Bobby Mackey’s. There is no shortage of crime history and paranormal activity here-- including, quite possibly, some of the scariest rocks you’ll ever encounter. A portal to hell is guaranteed and no, we are not talking about your front door into the real world. Happy Halloweener and stay away from people who don’t like pickles.

  • Ep 65: Foghorn
    Oct 31 2024

All aboard the SSS Lyssa this week (spooky solo story DUH) and batten down the hatches for another series of cursed songs within the realm of classical music-- which is the most terrifying as we all know! JK, but not really-- these three pieces haunted their composers as well as those that surrounded the production and performances of each one, there are even some speculations of related deaths thrown into the chaos. Have fun listening to Piano Sonata No. 6 by Alexander Scriabin, Devil’s Trill Sonata by Giuseppe Tartini, and Insha Ji Utho by Amanat Ali Khan. Be weary of those cold sores and don’t go on to write 9th sonatas annnnnd the devil definitely plays the violin. We don’t make the rules here, tonal music does.

  • Ep 64: Confetti Canyon
    Oct 30 2024

We miss the people we were before we shared this story on the air and maybe you will too. Clarisse’s Spooky Solo Story this week is nothing short of conspiracy, fraud, murder, medical torture devices, explosions, and haunted venues-- specifically the Roseland Theatre in Portland, Oregon and its familiarity with the crime world. Nothing good has ever come out of a story with a “Scary Larry” character, let alone a haunting. BUT at least we have some confetti canon horror and Halloween costume banter to cushion your fall for this drop-off of an episode.

  • Ep 63: Tumbleweed Core
    Oct 22 2024

It’s officially BER SEASON, spiky plants and tumbleweeds and all! But mostly, we are here celebrating October in the best way we know how to-- scary song stories to haunt your nightmares! Sorry, that was a little intense but not as bad as Alyssa’s solo story this week: the murder of Elyse Pahler. The thrash metal band, Slayer, is brought into this mix exactly how you might think, while the satanic panic adds to the pandemonium of their music. Listen to us pretend to know about drumming bass pedals and the teenage boy community (we are experts obviously).

  • Ep 62: Color me spooked
    Sep 27 2024

It’s September... which means it’s the perfect time to officially start the spooky season! Clarisse brings the history behind Metallica’s 1996 song, “Ronnie,” and how it inspired murder in a small town. But don’t worry, your favorite rock band isn’t ruined just yet, even though you might want to crawl back into a hole after this. Do you smell the fall leaves in the air? The apple pies? The sweat dripping from your body after going through another one of the cursed episodes? It’s time for fall you freaks.

  • Ep 61: Chisme
    Sep 21 2024

She said, he said, we said it’s time for episode 61!! Alyssa is taking on a solo episode to talk about the mysterious and slightly cold case murder of Chalino Sánchez, the Godfather of Narcocorridos. This one is a bit of a spooky story to get y’all warmed up for the upcoming fall season, and if this doesn’t get those gears going our recent music news updates might...
