What’s worse, they don’t always give you a lot of notice, which can leave you scrambling to replace that income.

  • #41 Is It a Failure to Take a Job
    Mar 4 2022

    https://solopreneurlife.com/

A friend announced he's taking a full-time job. Interestingly, he explained WHY he was leaving his solo business.

Why? Because we're afraid people might think we're a failure if we sideline our business and take a full-time job. So let's dive in...

    • Is it a failure?
    • Are there benefits?
    • Is it really quitting?

Welcome to the SL Podcast. My name is Kathryn Aragon, and I'm your host. The Solopreneur Life can be a lonely, sometimes scary endeavor because you wear all the hats. Here, at Solopreneur Life, we pull back the curtain on what really works, so you can build a business and life that you love.

Today, we're talking about the decision you're likely going to have to make at some point in your journey. Someone's going to offer you a job, and you're going to have to decide whether you're willing to lay everything down and build someone else's empire.

Because ultimately, that's the distinction, right?

    1. Build your business.
    2. Build someone else's business.

Building your business, you're the CEO. You make all the calls, do work you love, take projects you care about—but you also carry all the risk.

Building someone else's business, you're an employee. You work on the projects they give you, with people you may or may not get along with—but you get a steady paycheck, benefits, and a team of people who share responsibility for the success or failure of what you do.

There are pros and cons to both. The question is: Is it a failure to lay down your own business to build someone else's business?

    Let's dive in:

  • #40 What Really Matters
    Feb 25 2022

    https://solopreneurlife.com/

    We're really struggling today.

Do we talk about our regularly scheduled stuff, or do we address the elephant in the room.

    There's no good answer.

But when our hearts are telling us that the regularly scheduled stuff doesn't matter. Remember that what does matter is people!

    So today, that's our focus.

Welcome to the Solopreneur Life Podcast. I’m your host, Kathryn Aragon.

At Solopreneur Life, our mission is to help solopreneurs and freelancers launch and grow a successful business without overwhelm or burnout.

Through coaching, community, and training, we help you level up so you can build a business and life you love.

Today, we’re talking about What Really Matters.

It's hard to stay positive when bad things are happening... when your world is crumbling... when your future is uncertain.

You can't ignore the truth. But you don't want it to overwhelm you.

    Instead:

    • Be honest.
    • Process your feelings - that can take time.

If you're talking to someone who's affected:

    • Don't diminish
    • Don't belittle
    • Don't give shallow platitudes - "It'll be okay." "Just get over it."

  • #39 Having a Bad Day? How to Regroup and Recover
    Feb 18 2022

    https://solopreneurlife.com/joinhub/

I’m always inspired by the Olympics, aren’t you?

Some athletes are clearly at the top of their game. Others are at the beginning of their career or just having a bad day…

    I recently saw this quote:

"So many athletes want to be unbeatable, but the only way you can become unbeatable is to be beaten every way possible." So true!

As solopreneurs, we’re the same way. We want to succeed. When there’s a need, we want our clients to come to us first.

But too often, it doesn’t happen.

We do a bad job. We fail. We lose clients. We struggle to meet expectations.

But to truly succeed, we have to fail every way possible. Failure…it isn’t personal. It’s part of the game.

Welcome to the Solopreneur Life Podcast. I’m your host, Kathryn Aragon.

At Solopreneur Life, our mission is to help solopreneurs and freelancers launch and grow a 6-figure business without overwhelm or burnout. Learn the skills, habits, and mindsets you need to build a business that’s not only profitable — it’s fun.

Today, we’re talking about How to Regroup and Recover when things don’t do your way.
