In this episode, Abhay Wadhwa talks with Richard Rosen about “Design Initiatives for Senior Living”. Richard is a principal in the Senior Living Studio with Perkins Eastman (https://www.perkinseastman.com/). Richard is responsible for the design and planning of all levels of senior housing, from Independent Living Communities through Long Term Care Environments. He has written a variety of articles and has presented at numerous conferences on a range of issues affecting the lives and care of Seniors. Though he specializes in senior living buildings, Richard has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of institutional building types, including courthouses, hospitals, laboratory buildings, and multi-family housing.

In part 3 of this series about the reasons behind writing this book, Abhay talks about cultural approaches when undertaking a project and the reasons this book is important. This is a book that Abhay and his team have tirelessly worked on for several years documenting AWA projects in their relevance to stories that they tell and also compiling all the writings from the previous 25 years about our zeitgeist and how context is a big driver for lighting design solutions in architectural spaces.
